Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

YouTuber Freddie25 loves himself some videogame music. A couple of weeks back on Weekend Destructainment, I posted Freddie25’s badass cover of the music from Mega Man 9. Earlier this past week, Freddie25 continued to bring more awesome with this fantastic cover based on the Wind Waker theme.

Freddie is a very talented musician, as you can see in the video above. He performs the Wind Waker theme with a guitar, accordion, flute, glasses of water and more. If you enjoy the cover, you can download the MP3 of it here.

While we’re talking about Zelda music, I have to ask: which Zelda theme do you like more? The traditional Legend of Zelda theme, or the Wind Waker theme?

[Thanks, iconsam!]

While I love Wind Waker and the main theme, you really can't replicate the nostalgia that the original Zelda theme brings out. I dunno, it's hard to compare the two.

This is why Wind Waker was the best Gamecube game ever.

This is why it freaking needs a WiiMake.

This is why I need a Wii and a copy of this game.

The Dark World theme from Link to the Past is in there too for a few fleeting moments starting around 1:34. That and the Wind Waker theme definitely fall into my top 3 Zelda themes.

I am going agree with Dexter345 on this one. When I hear any Zelda songs that feeling of awesome is just awesome. And now I want to play some Zelda.

It's a brilliant cover of a great song. Just hearing it conjours up memories of adventures on the high sea.

@Sho Nuff

Maybe this song is irrelevant to you, but to many Dtoiders, I'm sure this song really means a lot. I know lots of people think that Wind Waker is the best Zelda, I know it is my personal favourite.

Sorry for the double comment, I like the Wind Waker theme a lot better than the original Zelda theme. I did play Wind Waker a lot more thouogh.

Exactly, Windwaker was so much more awesome than any Zelda game ever. Now that that's been said I shall wait for the OoT fanboys to eat me alive.

Awesome. Real talent on this guy. I love every Zelda score, but particularly Wind Waker. It wins mostly on originality points.

I'll agree that Wind Waker is the best 3D Zelda title, but I don't think any game in the series will ever dethrone Link to the Past.

That's kind of awesome. The game aside, Windwaker has the best music in the series outside of maybe Link's Awakening. The original themes are classic, but I don't really want to listen to them anymore then I do 1-1 from SMB. Which is not that often.

The original theme only wins on pure nostalgia. Wind Waker's overall soundtrack is still the best. Hell, the game is still my favorite Zelda game ever made. I just didn't like Ocarina of Time that much. There, I said it.

That really was amazing.

Also, Wind Waker was truly a great game and more than worthy to be in the Zelda series, but Link to The Past and Ocarina of Time just cannot be topped for me. This is mostly for nostalgic reasons, but that does not mean they are not valid reasons at all. If a game can make you feel nostalgic, than that game succeeded on an amazing level.

The question is, what currently released games will carry that same level of Nostalgia that games released ten years ago have for us now?

Awesome video of an awesome musical piece. I've already downloaded the .flv and now I'm downloading the .mp3. Woot!

I've only played two Zeldas in my lifetime (yeah, I'm PRETTY late to the party): Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and between the two, it's WW all the way. I'm downloading OoT for the VC this Christmas break to see what the fuss is all about but seeing as it's more TP than WW I have a feeling I might still prefer WW over it. We'll see.

The Wind Waker soundtrack is all sorts of amazing. It has just enough nostalgia to draw you in while the rest of the music carries the experience to fantastic heights.

Dragon Roost Island is all sorts of win.

The Wind Waker sound track is simply the best. The Staff Credits song and Dragon Roost Island song were so good, I actually used them in a Legend of Zelda inspired treasure hunt when I proposed to my fiance. So The Wind Waker sound track means a lot to me. You really can't beat The Wind Waker!

Why cant anyone let Wind Waker die. It sucked. There, I said it. It was a very mediocre Zelda game and this was reflected in the rather poor sales of the game. 'Ocarina of Time' and 'A Link to the Past' are the best two Zelda games ever made and anyone who puts Wind Breaker up in those ranks is an idiot.

@ sephirothX

I disagree. While Windwaker isn't my favorite by far, you can't deny that it was definitely a new spin on the general platforming aspects of the game. I think that adding that leaf to the standard item set, and greatly decreasing the abilities of the hookshot(grappling hook) made you attack the same zelda puzzles we've done for years in a new way.

However, your opinion is your opinion, and you are wholly entitled to it.

On the matter at hand, that song is amazing, and so is this video. Probably one of the most bitchin video game theme covers I've ever seen.

It's funny that you ask which theme we prefer better - the Wind Waker theme is just a variation of the original Zelda theme. They "pirated" it up a bit for the high-seas stylin's of Wind Waker. The original theme is most noticeable in the last measure, listen to the penny whistle.
