One-click inventory and a fistful of shaders: BioShock coming to the Mac? photo

How do you make Macworld Expo interesting for a gamer? For Feral Interactive, it is easy as wearing a Big Daddy shirt. According to a Macworld report, 2K Boston’s FPS BioShock is to be ported to the Macintosh platform.

It all seems to good to be true. Almost like the Macintosh hardware that is going to be required to play the cumbersome title. When asked what was up about the shirts, a Feral Interactive representative confirmed the port and added that fans should expect it within the first half of 2009.

I want to be excited about plunging into Rapture again. But I can’t even get Cryptic’s geriatric MMO City of Heroes to behave on my Macbook. BioShock has crazy stuff like water effects, textures, and voice acting. I don’t stand a chance.

Voice acting on a mac? Never heard such absurdity.

Enjoy it mac users...

Of course it's a year and a half late and probably full retail price (yet it was $5 on the PC 2 weeks ago). This is on top of getting pounded in the ass by apple for the hardware to begin with.

But then again the mac is such an amazing "experience" that it makes up for it... At least that's what the fanboys keep telling me.

On a macs like ours, it most likely won't work. But, I'd say there are few "gamers" that only have a Mac to play games on, so releasing Bioshock again for a typically not "gamer" platform is a little... silly...

Anyone with a mac does not use one to play games, they most likely are in the visual arts end of the spectrum and have already played this on the 360/PS3.
The Mac is surely capable of games as the architecture is essentially god PC components with little variation, iphone/touch is where it is at in Apple land.

I still have the G4 iBook, so I sure as hell won't be able to play this, then again, I've got it on 360, so nothing to worry about there :-)

I wish more company would go the way of Blizzard and release native version of the games and not use CIDER like tech.

Laugh all you want about Macs, but my MBP (4gig ram, core 2 duo 2.4 nvidia 9600 mobile version of course) can handle any games I throw at it. The only reason I ever boot up windows is for games like TF2 and company of heroes.

But anyway, I mostly game on my 360 as I stopped years ago upgrading my computer for games. It's not worth it in my opinion. Others may disagree it's ok :)

Otherwise Diablo 3 and starcraft 2 will be mac native.(like all Blizzard games)

Life is great when you realize that you don't need really need any microsoft on your computer.

I apply to this for both parts.

But hey, if more people can experience the game.

@Iron Dragon:

"Of course it's a year and a half late and probably full retail price (yet it was $5 on the PC 2 weeks ago)."

I agree here. That's why I Boot Camp my Mac and buy the PC version at the same time everyone else does.

"But then again the mac is such an amazing "experience" that it makes up for it... At least that's what the fanboys keep telling me."

Buy a PC if you want to spend your time working ON your computer. But a Mac if you want to spend your time working WITH your computer.

"This is on top of getting pounded in the ass by apple for the hardware to begin with."

Have you done a price comparison between similarly equipped Macs and PCs lately?

Yeah, so is Gears of War. I gave up playing games on my mac eons ago, because it's not really for that.
