OMG IT'S HUGE! The Destructoid Cincinnati NARP event

DtoidCincinnati on Community Badassness

NARPs started out as a way for community members of Destructoid to get together and expand on already-great friendships. They have grown and branched out over the past few months, with organized NARP groups popping up across the United States and the world. On May 31, 2008, NARPs will get a whole lot bigger.

The May 31st Cincinnati NARP is sponsored by Buffalo Wings and Rings and Budweiser with more sponsors to be announced next week. We will have games on three projectors and on five 37" LCDs. We will have a live DJ and live performances from two of our very own community members; GuitarAtomik, who won the Destructoid Theme Song Contest, and CosbyTron, who was one of the runner-ups with his original song called "Super Terrific". Ninoog3, the facility organizer, who was another runner-up with the first ever Dtoid rap song, will also be there. The only finalist from the contest who won't be there is king3vbo, who will be too busy failing to make it out. We have contests, prizes, drink specials, and a bunch of surprises lined up.

There are over 70 Dtoiders confirmed for this NARP, which makes it the largest gathering of Dtoiders in the history of the site. We expect close to 100 confirmed by the 31st. We have six staff members confirmed and more have their finger on the button. On top of that, over 400 gamers from around the Cincinnati area have given confirmation that they will be attending, and that number is growing every day. It has gotten so big that the owner of the Buffalo Wings and Rings is putting a fence out into the parking lot to expand the venue and accommodate such a large crowd.

For details on who will be at the party, where it will be, how to RSVP and much more, hit the jump.

Who/what will be there

Torpex Games has jumped on board to allow you to get your hands on the upcoming XBLA game Schizoid. TN Games will also be there giving a demo of their 3rd Space Gaming Vest. Gritty Games, a local developer working on a title that will be hitting XBLA and PSN soon, will be there previewing their game. More sponsors will be announced next week. Gamers will also be able to compete in Call of Duty 4, Rock Band, Grand Theft Auto IV, and more. At this point, I think it's safe to call this an event.

Who
If you want to come out to this event, you MUST email me and get on the guest list. At this point, we cannot guarantee entry unless you RSVP.

To get on the guest list, email me at joe@destructoid.com and provide the following information:
-Real name
-Dtoid name
-Phone number
-Email address

If you want to sponsor or have your games/products featured, contact Ron Workman at ronworkman@gmail.com.

What
All you need to bring is money. There is a $5 cover (free for preregistered Dtoiders). There will also be drink specials, including $1 beers and $1 jello shots. Finally, it's cool to wear a videogame shirt or a bad-ass Destructoid shirt at a bar.

Where
Buffalo Wings and Rings
Fairfield, OH (Cincinnati, OH)

Parking will not be an issue.
You must be 21 or over to drink.
Under 21 permitted.

Hotel reservations can be made at the Cincinnati North Hotel. All Dtoiders from across the country will be staying here, so the fun will begin on Friday evening and continue into Sunday. The hotel phone number is 513-671-6600.

When
10pm-2am EDT
May 31, 2008

There will be an after-hours party for Destructoid community members from 2am to 4am.

Why
It is being hosted by Joe Burling, Ron Workman, and Mourad Dibbini, but everyone coming has helped in one way or another. We believe this is the first event ever created for gamers, by gamers.

There is only one reason why people are traveling across the country just to hang out at a wings bar, and that reason is the community. If you are a lurker or a reader and don't understand what I'm talking about, come out to this NARP and see for yourself why so many gamers call Destructoid home.
