Omega Five and Tron on XBLA this Wednesday

     Arcade

We already knew that Omega Five (800 Microsoft Points) was coming to Live Arcade this week, but the deal has been sweetened: Tron (400 Microsoft Points) will also be released on Wednesday.

The side-scrolling shmup Omega Five makes me wish that more original games were available on XBLA, rather than rehash after rehash. It has refreshing visuals, multiple characters, and best of all, an old-school mode that is extremely unforgiving in the health department (think Ghosts 'N Goblins). The one thing this game doesn't have going for it is co-op, as it's offline only.

Tron has been ported to XBLA, with a few new additions. First off, 2-player co-op and versus modes have been included (splitscreen and online), something that didn't exist in the original arcade version of the game. Besides that, the audio for Tron has been improved to "CD-quality sound." Bleeps and bloops never sounded so amazing!

Omega Five is satisfying enough for me. How about the rest of you?

Omega Five Sounds great.

Omega Five in December like it was planned is even better.

Omega Five as my free XBLA game for the XBL screwup will make me completely shut up about silly mishaps on microsoft's end. But I can only dream such things.

Maybe Topher will have a decent game to review on RFGO next week. That would be awesome. Poor Topher, always getting the shit while Chad reviews golden retro goodness.

What the FUCK happened to the co-op? It was supposed to have co-op. This does not bode well.

So it's alright to still hold out for a free copy of Ikaruga for the Xbox Live screw-up.

@Topher

That's the spirit. Get the hate happening. You are not Chad, and XBLA is not VC. It cannot have a best week ever.

Until Ikaruga. Unless it's broken. With no co-op.

No online co-op sucks but I'll still buy the game.

Not cool. I was promised online co-op. If this drops tomorrow with no co-op, it will certainly affect the probability of a best week ever.
