Old Splatterhouse devs back on game: Well, some of them photo

Many of you will remember the rather nasty separation of developer Bottlerocket and Namco Bandai's Splatterhouse game. Bottlerocket was working diligently on the retro revival before Namco suddenly pulled the rug out from under them and gave the project to its in-house Afro Samurai team. Well, apparently most of the Bottlerocket devs are back to working on the game. Seems they weren't doing such a bad job after all.

Apparently, Namco Bandai has "quietly" opened a new office in San Diego and has recruited between ten and twenty designers, artists, programmers, producers and others from Bottlerocket to keep working on Splatterhouse. It's being suggested that Namco Bandai's problem wasn't with the developers, but with the studio's management. This cements the idea that Namco had no issue with the Splatterhouse team itself.

Good news indeed for the original developers, but does this bode well for Splatterhouse? The game has changed hands from the original team, to the Afro Samurai team, to a team comprised of employees from the original team. That is a messy changeover process and has a highly likely chance of affecting Splatterhouse's overall quality.

We'll keep our fingers crossed.

I was hoping this game would just disappear into oblivion.

It looks so terrible.

The game doesn't look bad at all, you guys are cock mongrels. Sure, it doesn't look a damn thing like the other 3 games and it pretty much looks like a God Of War rip-off. But I've been waiting for a Splatterhouse sequel for forever, so either way I look forward to it and hope for the best.

The gameplay will have to be a blast (ala God of War or Ninja Gaiden), or it just going to get boring after 5 minutes. From what I have seen so far, would NOT play $60 for it.

Afro Samraui game was mediocre at best, so I'm glad the game is being transferred back to Bottlerocket

I think that the game now stands a chance of being good now it's out of the hands of the Afro samurai team. Man that game was lame.

I thought the character design was pretty horrible myself. Albeit, I've never played Splatterhouse outside 5-10 minutes on an emulator, and I haven't seen anything outside of a few screenshots of this game.

So answer me this, why does the main character (still Rick I presume?) look like a sack of meat. He looks more like Clayface than Rick Taylor. His skin looks um...too lumpy.

I loved the original splatterhouses, I hope this remake doesn't ruin it for me.
