Wow, they're reactivating old accounts? Now I'm interested. Being able to play as the guy I created back in the summer of '05 would be really awesome.

CoH has always had a very solid, dedicated playerbase. It's hit-or-miss on how new players are received, though. I've been playing for 7 years and I can say that in my experience the community as a whole is very forgiving and open to new players, but I have NO fucking clue how it'll handle going free-to-play. The influx of inexperienced and ignorant players that's almost certain to come looks to be biblical compared to the steady trickling we've had before.

This should be a laugh. I think I have two old accounts so I might have to check what Heroes are on each before I start playing again. Was looking forward to this becoming a time sink

I was under the impression that this would launch on September 14th. The original Dtoid article failed to mention that the date was for the VIP head-start and not the launch of the Free to Play version. I've since resubscribed to the game and it's as awesome as I remember, with a swath of new content. I just wish there were millions more people to play with. So, I'm eagerly awaiting the Freedom launch.
