Okami art book is highly lustworthy photo

Okami is one of the solid contenders in the games as art argument, and this gorgeous art book only further fuels that fire. I can only imagine Chad running around the office dancing at the sight of this treasure, so I'm sure it's just fine for the rest of you to follow suit in your respective places of business. After all, it isn't often enough that games of such quality as Okami hit the market, so I'm pretty much completely willing to fork over my hard earned cash for such goodies.

Amazon.com is stocking Okami Official Complete Works at a highly reasonable price point of $26; however the ship time is listed as 1-3 months. Ugh. Might be worthy to scour EBay or your favorite comic shops first. What's wrong with you, Amazon? Don't you know nerds require instant gratification?

:O that is indeed very beautiful work, I particularly love the mix of oriental style.

Wow, nice! If they have the entire monster list from that scroll in the game, I'm sold.

It's a really good collection, worth the money (and the wait). I don't know if this differs from the Original Japanese release though.

I hear that some people liked Okami more than Zelda. (but don't tell anyone!)

As much as I enjoyed Okami, I think its extremely overrated. I think when it comes to games as art the choice is simply between Ico and Shadow of the colosus, but then I don't think games are art.

I remember reserving this and getting a fat loots promo little paint board. I ended up painting elaborate cocks in watervision.
I'd like to get this anywayz just cuz it's probably got some of the madestdopestfreshprinceofbelairest tattoo opportunities I've ever set eyes on.

It is worth every single penny. I found the game by accident, and fell madly in love with everything about it. Story line, battle system, witty writing and of course the visual style and art direction. This book is a must own for any fan of this gem.

And I finally got to see the Issun without having seizures of watching that damn thing jumping nonstop.
I really want to get my hands on the real thing.

i own Shadows and Ico and as art there ok, they evolve a feeling not an image... Shadows is meant to convey loneliness, hopelessness and bring you a glimmer of pride and duty... Ico is to bring about a feeling of duty and honor and a goal, even though the goal is so very out of reach... 2 games one vision... same director prequel-sequel...

But... Okami is different and never to be compared to them, Okami is pure artistry, there visual elements so crisp you can not only see but hear and even smell the world which was created... Okami pulls you into a world that is so ripe with fantastic visuals you can barely keep the context between game and art seperate

Okami sits on its own and the best out there to push the barrier between art and game, period.

@Jark212

Yes, an anime on Okami would be cool.

I would like to buy this art book. It looks so beautiful.

P.S.

Did anyone else watch the Lunar Eclipse last night? It was a beautiful sight.

I'd fuck it.

Honestly, I liked the art a lot more than the game... But then I did play it right after Twilight Princess...

I played Okami shortly after playing Twilight Princess as well. I found Okami to be much better. Well, for the first 2/3rds, though. Then it got repetitive. Still better overall. Also, the art is awesome.

Games that evoke feelings are art (Colossus). Games that look sweet excel in design (Okami).

psst. There really isn't an agreed upon definition of art. If there was, "the products of human creativity" wouldn't be it.

This is one of the things I like most about games, collection japanese game art books. It helps you appreciate all the work that goes into a game by so many talented people.

I have Resident Evil Archives and Capcom Design Works books (both superb) so I'll have to add this Okami one to my list. Not that great at drawing animals so this will help.

If you like Capcom artwork, keep an eye out for Udon's Art of Capcom. Its out next month to buy and should be cool.
