Oh no you didn't try to steal my thunder, Assassins Creed photo

The first next-gen Prince of Persia image has been revealed -- let the speculating begin! Why is the Prince covering his face? What is the purpose of the giant gauntlet on his arm? Will it factor into the gameplay?

Fine, you’re right, it’s just some early conceptual art -- I need to settle down. But what nice conceptual art it is.

Literally nothing is known about this title except for the fact that it is currently in production and that this one image exists. Will it be based on the upcoming film? Does the story tie in at all to the Sands of Time trilogy?

Sorry, there I go again.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was one of the biggest surprises for me the last generation. From the previews I had seen I thought it looked pretty crummy; but wow when I actually played the game it became one of my favorite games of last generation. I found that Warrior Within didn't recapture the feeling of SoT, although I have heard good things about Twin Thrones. I just hope the next game starts off with a bang and meets or exceeds the great experience I had with the first game of the trilogy.

Snaileb's mind had been made up. Smash Bros.

OT: I need to go back and play me some SoT. Never did get around to it. Then, I can get excited about a 4th game, since I'll only be 3 behind again.

They have the same writer from the games doing the screenplay for the movie.

This was one of the many Ubisoft images leaked, when somehow public access to a file directory became available. That was about 6 months ago I think, was probably on d-toid at the time.

The Prince looks weird on the other picture. He looks more like the old prince than the new one...

I have the leaked files dated at September 26/06 on my computer, so the concept art is at least that old.

I'm praying that it its Ubisoft-Montreal that's developing the next-gen PoP (ie. the Studio that made Sands of Time and is working on Assassin's Creed, but who weren't responsible for Warrior Within/Two Thrones/Rival Swords).

If that's the case it'll probably be a good 2-3 years before another PoP. If its another studio making it, maybe it'll be sooner, but mekh.

Wintermute, Montreal is responsible for Warrior Within and Two Thrones. I can't say for sure that they are for Rival Swords, but they've done all the others.

Its only that the creative director of PoP: SoT is the same as Assassin's Creed.

@ wintermute,
Yeah, I heard about/remember those photos from back in the day. I think Ubisoft was not too happy with those being posted at the time, though. This photo is the first "official" one -- not leaked, I guess.
In any case, good find -- I'm not worthy!

@ Chad

If Ubisoft was unhappy with people posting the photos, they should have followed Sony and just blackballed every blog that posted them. It would have made things much better.

I still need to play the Sands of Time trilogy.

@ elgemusio: Ok, thought it was a different studio inside Ubisoft, but maybe it was Montreal. My point was, as you rightly stated, that the main man Patrice Desilets was not lead designer.

@ Chad Concelmo. Yeah i read what they had to say at CVG about it being the only official screenshot. Ubi can say whatever they like but once its out, it don't get more official than that. This is the intertubes, im all up in your directory ogling your jpgs.

After the leak they should have just said, "Damn that's a lot of hot stuff we got, you guys better keep tuned."

How come any one who associates with Ubisoft can't keep info witheld? (nothing against Ubisoft I love PoP and I often sit in a poodle of drool just READING about Assassin's Creed)

@Chad

From what I very vividly remember reading in multiple places on the internet that the next gen Prince of Persia games are going to be a whole new story separate from the SoT trilogy.

Anyways, keep giving any updates you can. What systems is it going to be made for?

This isn't a video of PoP next gen, its a gameplay demo for Assassin's creed! Its far from beign leaked footage since it is primarily intended for marketing!
