Official Guitar Hero II Xbox 360 box art reveals ... a little

Official Guitar Hero II Xbox 360 box art reveals ... a little photo
     Music games
The kids over at Team Xbox managed to land some official images of the box and guitar bundle for the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II.

What's notable about the image (besides it making me have to change my pants) is the confirmation of not only downloadable content (which was a no-brainer), but the promise of additional songs. Red Octane hasn't revealed any details about the songs, but it's entirely possible that both the downloadable content and additional tracks will be songs taken from the original Guitar Hero. Any new content would be quite a bonus.

One can also speculate over the absence of the words "playable over Xbox Live." Because while leaderboards seem likely, the addition of co-op or face off modes over Xbox Live would truly make this a must have for fans of the series, whether or they owned the game on the PlayStation 2 or not.

While no release date has been set, you'll know the game has hit the shelves when you stop seeing posts with my name attached to them. Because you're going to have to tear that White Explorer from my cold, dead hands.

I can't wait till this comes out for the 360. I held back getting it for my PS2.

Nice! My friends band (Shaimus) was one of the bonus tracks in the first guitar hero..

The possibility of a Guitar Hero 1 pack for Guitar Hero II 360 is simply too exciting, I would love to play "More than a feeling" with my brother, who's considerably worse than me, but with the multiplayer of GHII.

ttaylor: if that's true let them know I'm a huge fan now cause of that song. I bought their full length album from what I heard in GH.

Yeah, but what's with those magical ports?

Playing this over XBox Live would be kind of boring, I'd think. There's just something so cool about actually rocking out the co-op with your bandmate right there.

Too bad everyone who wanted it probably bought it for the ps2 already. Still, the downloadable content possibilities are cool.

Naa Aesten... I've wanted it for a while, but since it wasn't compatible with my ps3 and since my ps2 is a good continent away, guitar hero for the 360 is the best news a little pup like me can get! I know my issue was complex, but all I'm saying is I'm sure there is enough of a base to justify getting this product out there to people that either don't have a ps2 anymore, or those mainstreamers that are so next gen that buying a ps2 game is tantamount to sacrilege.

Any news on if they got the wireless controllers up and running, or are MSoft still being a bunch of proprietary bitches?

I'm in Bahrain now, we were playing this at a kiosk in a store that was totally empty the other day, and apparently my friend and I must have had some pretty crazy jamout expressions on us, because a couple of passerby's in the window started a little crowd around us which formed up as we went on, and everyone jeered us on. Quite funny, we played it to the crowd as well, tossing the guitar around and pulling our psuedo-80's rockgod moves out of the closet for a bit... ahhh good times

I just noticed something, and it probably doesn't matter, but... are those fret buttons square?

YES!!! I did not get for the Ps2, Which means without wasting 70 bucks on the first one(not that it was a waste) I can "waste" 70 on this one and get more songs to boot!

Downloadable content and the ability to play multiplayer when your lead singer is sick or puking from all the coke from last nights party makes this a must have.

I think I wrote about the guy in the picture on Dtoid before but I'll do it again. His name is "Angelo", used to be "MichaelAngelo" and hes the fastest player to ever live. If you are weird enough to be into speed guitar, look up some of his videos on the net. It's insane. I'm not a big fan of his music, but I met him (guitar teched for him at a clinic) when I worked for a guitar studio years ago. He's a really nice guy and can play so fast you can't see his hand. No joke.

That's crazy Subnet, everyone knows the fastest one is Skwisgaar Skwigelf, sheesh. :)

And he also plays an explorer. I await the 360 version with much anticipation.

Now I'm excited. Now I'm jazzed. I play Guitar Hero for the first time last weekend at a friend's house. Once this comes out for 360, I'm going to have a real problem waiting for that Zephyr thing to hit before I take the plunge into Next Gen.

NetPhantom: My buddy went to school with all of them and thats how I became friendly with them. They're going to be having two shows in LA on the 14th and 17th if you live in the area..

They were never contacted about being in the game until it was already out and someone told them about it.. Got no royalties from it but definitely got a lot more fans! Paper Sun is awesome and they're starting to work on a new album.. Sorry for the 'spam' guys but I try to plug them anywhere I can! (they're on myspace as well)

:D I cant wait for Guitar Hero for the 360. I hope there is XBL multiplayer, or perhaps listening to them to theres then you do yours trying to dazzle them with you're skills!

Downloadable songs sounds cool, as long as there are some good ones and they arent priced too heavily (or some free ones every now and again)
