Obviously, we at Destructoid were all forced to watch the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards show this weekend. Shackled to our computers, driven by cruel taskmasters, we had no option but to witness it. In this casual chat from our virtual office, I'm joined by Jim Sterling and Jordan Devore as we discuss the potential negative impact of this yearly event.
Other topics include our thoughts on where Metal Gear is going now that Revengeance is in the hands of those charming whack jobs over at Platinum Games and we touch briefly on the perils of e-mail communication in this business.

He enjoys reading, writing and turning things which should be fun into work.

The problem stems from the statement made in your headline, it's factually incorrect. Granted, it has as much relevance to the fate of the world as a whole as if I stated: "Tomatoes are fruit." because the MUTHAFUGGIN' Supreme Court have deemed them vegetables. It's anal and picky, but those comments ARE going to come up from people like us who rely on facts, regardless of how asine and annoying we may appear, whether you like it or not.
The problem that arises from your curmudgeongy retort in the comments is that by simplifying your whole argument on the issue to "They're all just words", would imply that this article doesn't mean anything. Because if all words are made-up, then this post isn't news. Why not make a thousand videos on different words then? 'Gazebo wins best made up word'.
It would presumptuous to consider then that if the article doesn't matter, you don't care about your videos? They aren't worth posting then? Well that's a shame because I rather like Office Chat. This one didn't even talk about the word outside of one segway statement you've made to get away from the VGAs. If you wanted to avoid some bitching, titling the whole thing 'Made-Up Awards' or something would at least let us know that this is an Op-Ed roundtable with Sterling and Devore instead of a statement.
And an ad hominem on the validity of the term bromance doesn't work if Destructoid's audience/clientele would be the kind of individuals to use that word; Which I DO hear at NARPs and PAX, a lot, Mr. Conbro Zimmbroman, from Brotland, Broegon.
Also, Conrad, could you put the Office Chat tag within the text so we have an easy way to see the archive? Not sure if I missed the last couple or what.
From what I can tell, 'revengeance' was, at one point, in Websters. It's no longer in Websters and I can't find any reference of it ever being in the OED. I don't think it technically counts as a word anymore.
And it sounds as ungood as the mind droppings of a lobotomised ape whose only understanding of English consists of flailing hand gestures at people in lab coats, so I don't like it.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It a real word just not used much as it was also it was used by the Ku Klux Clan
Yeah I also thought it was a made up word, but I figured I should double check and viola! It's real(-ish).
I think it makes more sense if you think of it not as "re-vengeance" but rather as "revenge-ance," kind of like "appearance."

Splitting hairs aside, "Bromance" is in the dictionary too, but I refuse to believe it.
But also, I am a dick for commenting on the headline without watching the vid. No audio at work unfortunately.
If it makes you feel any better, you're probably a dick for lots of other reasons too. I know I am.

Huh. Fair enough. That didn't show up when I searched the OED site. Must've misspelled it or something.
