Sales for videogames were down 19% from the month for September. Plus the release of the biggest PS3 exclusive of the year wasn't enough to keep the PS3 at the top. It's not all bad news though!
Hardware: The Wii retook the top spot in sales this week kicking the PlayStation 3 down to the third spot followed by the Xbox 360. No surprise there as the Wii dropped to $199.
Software: No surprise here either as Uncharted 2 was the number one selling game of October. Of note is that Take-Two had three of the top ten selling games last month, Borderlands for the Xbox 360 and NBA 2K10 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Sadly, Brutal Legend didn't even make the top ten sellers.
Prediction: Modern Warfare 2 will be the number one selling game for November. That's a big "no duh", I know. Also, the DS/DSi will be the number one seller for hardware once again for the Holiday season.

Brain compute fail.
Maybe all those ranting 360 fantards are wrong? Maybe?
Also, is the Borderlands figure inclusive of PS3 and 360 sales? Or just 360 sales?
It irritates me on this site specifically, why all multiplatform releases are generally tagged "Xbox360"
i bought Borderlands, loved it, finished it, traded it in. Same with Uncharted 2, the store credit went to a good cause though, Oh Modern Warfare 2 how i love thee.
Assume PS3 users spent their money on Uncharted 2 than Borderland. I have been playing Borderland on 360 and still haven't opened Uncharted 2 sitting on my desk.
Captain Obvious says that 360 still sells more software than anybody up there.
I could be completely off here but Sony PS3 doesn't seem to have a gang buster game selling power like 360 or even Wii. I thought we would see like million of Uncharted 2 pushed with all the installation base in this country along. And it looks like Uncharted 2 will get tipped in November b/c of MW2.
Looking at how NBA2k10 appears twice on the list, I'm guessing the Borderlands numbers are 360 only.
Not surprised about Brutal Legend and honestly not surprised about the jump in PS3 numbers. I truly believe that price drop will have a significant influence on sales this holiday season. I really wish we could find out how many of those Uncharted purchases came from people who have owned a PS3 for 3 months or less.
Don't blame me. I've hopped on many a soapbox to preach the coming of The Metal.
Blame Nick 'Enemy of the Metal' Chester. Don't worry. I'm working on a fittingly brutal death for the man.
Yes, Nintendon't situation still irks me. But I have been able to ignore the Nintendon't b/c I justdecided to consider it as a toy and not a serious console. It definitely does not add any value in my household. I really think that the Nintendon't should have its own fad category rather than on the video console category. Just my anti-nintendo rant this morning...
Ah well that's nice for you, but I was just making a joke. I wasn't talking about you directly!
