Nyko Wii peripherals debut at CES (Update) photo

Nyko's got some pretty neat stuff coming up at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas for the Wii. The three accessories we've heard news of so far are the wireless sensor bar, a remote recharging station, and a high-def component cable. Here's the basic info from their press release:

Nyko’s Charge Station for Wii enables gamers to simultaneously charge two Wii remotes, maintaining a steady supply of power with two additional rechargeable NiMH batteries. The charging dock allows the user to easily keep 2 Wii-Remotes charged at all times by plugging into any wall outlet. The dock has convenient and easy to read LED indicator lights, as well as a 6 foot power cord that allows the unit to be conveniently placed in even the most crowded entertainment areas. For those active gaming sessions, the Charge Station for Wii also includes two rubberized battery covers to make sure even the most energetic gamer keeps a grip on the Wii-Remote. The Charge Station for the Nintendo Wii will has a suggested retail price of $29.99.

For the ultimate in convenience and performance, Nyko’s Wireless Sensor Bar provides a neat, obstacle-free gaming environment. With the Wireless Sensor Bar, Wii gamers can play up to 25 feet away from their television with no wires or cords. The Wireless Sensor Bar can be placed anywhere the consumer wishes, making it ideal for wall-mounted televisions and projectors. The product features up to 30 hours of battery life on four AA batteries (included), and also includes an optional built-in battery saving function which emits an audible alarm when the Wireless Sensor Bar has been left idle for a user-determined amount of time. The Wireless Sensor Bar for the Nintendo Wii will has a suggested retail price of $19.99.

To meet the needs of consumers demanding the best in visual performance from their Nintendo Wii, Nyko is proud to offer the HD-Link for Wii. The HD-Link provides a crystal clear image at a resolution of up to 480p. The cable also includes high-quality audio cables, providing realistic immersive sound. The HD-Link is 8 feet long to accommodate any entertainments setup and is shielded to provide interference-free performance. The HD-Link for the Nintendo Wii has a suggested retail price of $19.99.

Not bad. Not bad at all. Considering you'll probably save a ton on batteries in the long run, the recharging station sounds rather appealing at $29.99. And of course, everyone's been clamoring for a wireless sensor bar since the Wii's release.

30 hours and 4 AA batteries with the sensor bar? Is that good? If I, or other ppl in my house, are playing for about 4/5 hours a day it'll need the batteries changing every week.

I invested in 8 Rechargable batteries and a charger when I got my Wii. It's been a very worthwhile investment. 2 remotes with 2 batteries and a spare set to be ready when i need it.

I picked up Nyko's Charge Station for Xbox 360 and was sorely disappointed. One side of the charging dock and one of the battery packs was completely D.O.A. From what I've read on the reviews at EBGames's website, quality may be an issue with their "bargain price" accessories.

Bah. I don't want a wireless sensor bar, I want a wired sensor bar that can just plug into the wall and not the Wii.

So, you move the batteries from the Wii mote and into the wireless sensor bar at double the battery useage. Good call Nyko.

While you're at it, why not set an uncontrolled fire to burn down a paper mill and maybe save a forest?

Go to radioshack and buy their 30 Minute battery charger. They have 2 units available, the more expensive of which ($40) can charge 4 batteries at once and comes with 4 AAA and 4 AA batteries. The batteries do cost $8 for a pair if you need more, but the investment is well worth it, as it indeed charges batteries from dead to full in about 30 minutes.

So does the charger charge the batteries while they are in the controller or do you have to take them out?

Also, why can't we get a better photo of these things. It's like this is the only photo of these on the whole web.

Let's be REALLY careful about the products this brand pumps out, people.
This is the company who released the Xbox360-killing intercooler fan. Also, from personal experience Nyko makes a lot of the crappier accessories in the industries. I once worked at a used game store that would absolutely REFUSE to carry any of their products since they were known to cause systems to malfunction. Anyone remember PERFORMANCE brand? That little S#!tty bastard child of INTERACT? They were the worst! Wonder what happened to them? They were devoured by MADCATZ!!

Again let's all be careful with the brands of accessories we buy. Just my words of caution.

It's cheaper and more convenient for two Wiimotes to get a rechargable battery docking station and eight rechargable batteries. You'd never be unable to play because of recharges, as you could always have the other batteries charging. With the above you'd need to put the Wiimote away and wait. If you play all day every day like myself that'd be a problem.

I'm mostly only into accesories made by Nintendo (or Microsoft) themselves. But Intec seems to be pretty reliable.
