Not that they couldn't improve it by the time of release, but as it stands the combat looks really stiff.
Batman AA had a certain level of grace to it. It wasn't just fast, it was fluid and while perhaps not every punch and kick landed due to hitbox issues, the combat was so well done that you simply didn't notice because you were having so much fun being a badass
Here, well, it just looks boring. The animations lack in variation for one. The enemies seem either too easy or they simply don't gang up on Capt. America like they do in AA. Also, stuff like the shield stuns them for WAY too long and can hit FAR too many guys at once.
Granted, they were just trying to demonstrate the system so the AI is probably on the easiest setting possible. But the combat still needs quite a bit of work. In order to feel like a super hero, the game needs to present the combat not in a one on one state, but rather a "hit you, then I'll hit you and then I'll hit you ALL the way over there because I'm a badass as you can't stop me!" kind of moment.
I'm still pleased enough to keep an eye on this game, but they're going to have to show me something more with this.
The combat does seem dull here, but like sobik88 said, I think some of that's due to the guy demoing it. It looks a little better in other clips I've seen. Maybe this was his first time playing or something, idk.
The coolest thing I've seen in this game so far is the "Crippling Strike" slo-mo punch to the face. That looks fun. :)
