Along with our sister site, collectible toy culture blog Tomopop, Destructoid decided to invade New York Comic Con this past weekend. Comics? Who needs 'em. (Answer: me.) But we heard through the grapevine that there would be some videogame-related stuff to see, so we crawled out of bed and made our way to the Jacob Javits Center to scope things out.
So maybe John Woo didn't announce a Metroid film (boo? yay?), but there was still plenty of stuff to see. Konami was on hand with Metal Gear Online, as well as playable builds of Hellboy: The Science of Evil (for PSP, PS3, and Xbox 360), New International Track & Field for the DS, and more. Activision had just announced Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, and were offering fans the chance to audition for a voice-over part in the game. SouthPeak Interactive had a huge showing of original titles, including the just-announced PS2 breakdancing title, B-Boy, and the inventive and quirky DS title, Mr. Slime.
Over the next day or two, I'll be bringing you impressions and information from the show, along with a short interview with the Executive Producer of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Graham Fuchs. For those with a love of toys and Square-Enix, don't miss Tomopop's stellar coverage of the event.

i has the red gears of war bag :o
Also i do want those figures :O
It's probably for the best that they didn't annouce a metroid movie, as I'm sure that Uma wouldn't be doing it.
Roogoo was by far my favorite game there. Can't wait to fit simple shapes into correspondingly shaped slots while happy teddy bear things watch on once its out of XBL.
I want that 'splodey-head figure. That thing is tits.
I am with Cowzilla on this, RooGoo could be a sleeper hit and a huge surprise for people.
[drooling for gears of war action figures]
Yeah, the Gears figures looked cool enough when they were first revealed online, but there’s nothing like seeing them up close and in person. They’re unbelievably detailed, and that exploding Locust head figure is ridiculous.
Other than that, I was unimpressed/underwhelmed by most of the gaming stuff there. However, like Cowzilla3 and power-glove, I thought Roogoo was pretty fun...
Roogoo was the cougar's taint. I'll have impressions and screens of that up today or tomorrow, so everyone can see what the heck we're going on about.
Who is putting out those MGS figures? Im digging the Gears of War ones, but man, that Big Boss figure looks fucking SICK!
That Big Boss figure is SO EPIC
that cortana is hot! DO WANT! :-)
Rooooooogoooooooo. So good. B-boy was interesting. I LOLed at the Call of Duty card game.
I miss me some Cowzilla and Chief Chester.
