If you're one of the many people who have always eyed the paintball guns at Wal-Mart but never had the stones (let alone the cash) to purchase one, then you'll be excited to hear that the latest attempt at recreating what it's like to be pelted with paint-filled balls is finally here.

CTZ and I had the opportunity to take on professional paintball players from Team Dynasty in both real-life matches, as well as in Activision's newest title, NPPL Championship Paintball 2009.

Although they may hold a slight upper-hand to rookies such as us, it was a great experience to play the game sitting next to people that actually know what they're talking about. Check out the video to see their impressions, as well as a few dashing shots of your very own community manager, CTZ, as he lights up the competition on the field.

Video games about paintball are pointless. The whole reason for paintball is to simulate real warfare without having the risk of actually being killed or badly injured. The same could be said for some first person shooters. Making a game based off of fake warfare removes you from the excitement by one extra degree, and it really suffers as a result.

@Dexter:
Just a little heads up to your statement.
There is more than one way to play paintball, one is woodsball or scenario paintball, where you recreate warfare, just like your statement.
But Paintball is also played as a sport, thatīs where speedball comes in play.
A fast paced gamed, played in a grass or dirt court with air filled obstacles.
So itīs actually a sport, just like skateboarding.
Bad game is going to be bad, but donīt take the illusion out of the paintballers.

Sincerely the paintball guy.

Dexter, you have got to be kidding me. You've obviously never played tournament paintball.

Tournament paintballers are not trying to simulate war in any way, shape, or form. I'd love to know how you got this info that the NPPL tournament series is trying to promote or simulate fake war. Also, last I checked, the military doesnt have bright red or blue guns. They also don't take cover behind inflatable bunkers. Im also pretty sure that they dont have ref's calling people out when they get shot or making sure people dont cheat by wiping a shot off. One last thing, war doesnt allow thousands of spectators to gather around a gun fight to cheer on their country.

If the game were based fully off of woodsball, I could see where you were coming from. But its not, this game is 90% tournament paintball. Please do research before you try to criticize a game that you know nothing about.

Anyways, this game looks like it is going to be amazing. It seems more realistic than the Greg Hastings games. Graphics look pretty good. Cant wait to pick it up.

Towards Dexter345,
There are many different types of Paintball, the one you referred to "simulate real warfare " is called woods ball. Now this new paintball game NPPL 09 is 'Mainly' about speed ball, which is an actual sport. (NPPL Nation Professional Paintball League) Speed ball is very different from woods ball, pretty much what pballer936 said. Paintball is one of the fastest growing extreme sports in the world and most of the paintballers will actually buy it and enjoy it. So why don't you go and play some paintball yourself cause you obviously don't know shit about paintball, idiot.
