I must be one of the few that thinks band specific games are the only SKUs worth making, but ONLY is they're choc-filled with bonus features, artwork, authentic stage designs, the band in different eras and such. Having a whole game themed around your favourite band is the shit. For everything else, DLC seems fine to me.
And to chime in on the survey - from that list, Queen. But ultimately, Iron Maiden. From the whole Powerslave stage set, to Bruce in his Somewhere in Time space pirate costume, to Blaze and Steve threatening to kill a guy who spat at the band. That's the stuff dreams are made of.

I don't really know how I feel about band specific games. There are only a few bands among my favorites who were prolific enough to warrant a whole game (let's say, four or more albums), but I don't think they would be particularly fun to play. Garbage and Weezer are just too easy. Jimmy Eat World and the Offspring would be a bit more interesting. Still, nothing on the level of the most difficult songs in Rock Band 2.
For the record, on that list, I picked Michael Jackson, Queen, and Other: Offspring. Would have checked everything but Springsteen and Presley if I weren't limited to just three.

Activision is so out of touch, publishing these old and washed up or irrelevant bands. Rock Band did a great thing with Beatles Rock Band, but Green Day as a follow up? C'mon. Green Day is great and all, but not legendary enough to warrant a whole game. What's next? Rock Band: No Doubt? Band Hero: Justin Bieber?. If any band's career warranted an entire game it was Metallica, that's been done, it wasn't as good as we'd hoped. Let's move on.
I'm not really into band-specific games. I'd rather have DLC. Maybe because most of the bands I like are "young" and they wouldn't have as many albums available to fill up the track list with fun songs to play and sing. The artists above, well, DLC would be enough, no?

He had a massive resurgence in interest since his album Magic (which is one of his bigger unit shifters in recent years) and he found a younger audience again with his set at Glastonbury (not to mention his appearences with The Gaslight Anthem).

My friend had once told me there's almost no way Plant would allow licensing for a Led Zepplin video game.
I think Michael Jackson would better fit in Lips, but I would play a Michael Jackson: Rock Band.
Also, I consider it damn-near criminal that we don't have Rush Rock Band. They're a band that would be perfect, with their near-four-decade long career and their currently-available 19 albums, only one of which is available in a music game.

I will say that gh:wt showed me that rock band tool might not be as interesting as I would hope. While the music is awesome, the guitar and basslines are very repeatitive and not that fun to play.

I don't think they're overrated in the since that they've deserved their fanbase. They certainly have. But in my opinion they are god awful. I like Prog Metal and I think they're god awful. I can not stand Tool for the life of me. I'd listen to Miley Cyrus before I listen to Tool.

I already bought all The Who songs for Rock Band, and would STILL buy a stand-alone game. I love that band so so so much.

Yeah, I used to like Tool and I can still appreciate how talented they are as musicians but I have long since quit listening to them. The fans are generally really, really lame people, like 311 fans only they smoke clove cigarettes and think they are well read.

Radiohead would probably be fun to play, I'll admit I've sung Creep more times than I'm willing to admit, but personally I think listening to them is boring. There are those songs that in Rock Band that I'd never listen to but love playing so I'd be more sympathetic to a Radiohead game.
