I'm not a big fan of band specific games, just release more tracks for ALL OF US to download?!?!
And to chime in on the survey - from that list, Queen. But ultimately, Iron Maiden. From the whole Powerslave stage set, to Bruce in his Somewhere in Time space pirate costume, to Blaze and Steve threatening to kill a guy who spat at the band. That's the stuff dreams are made of.
For the record, on that list, I picked Michael Jackson, Queen, and Other: Offspring. Would have checked everything but Springsteen and Presley if I weren't limited to just three.
I AM however, looking forward to Green Day: Rock Band.
So no, the NPD aren't out of touch at all. Just because you think The Boss is old fashioned, doesn't mean he's not a financially viable name. Though, I'd doubt he'd sign his name away to this kind of thing.
Three bands that would definitely actually make me consider buying another set of plastic instruments.
Just consider though. Can't promise I'd bite. I hate having extra crap laying around.
Also, I consider it damn-near criminal that we don't have Rush Rock Band. They're a band that would be perfect, with their near-four-decade long career and their currently-available 19 albums, only one of which is available in a music game.
It's pretty much all but official that Jimi Hendrix: Rock Band will coming out later this year.
I'm sick of hearing people call for LedZed, Pink Floyd, and the Stones. It's not gonna happen. Not until these guys die. Seriously. Just stop asking about it. From the Stones we got Gimme Shelter and we're lucky to have that. Sucks that they moved to that other label other label and we haven't gotten anything since.
Also, Tool is literally the worst band of all time.
Despite disliking the idea of seperate band games, I would however, based ont he point above about all the extra content and stuff buy the following...
Rock Band: Rage Against the Machine
Rock Band: Placebo
Rock Band: System of a Down
Rock Band: Queens of the Stone Age
...without question, at full retail, day one prices.
Greenday WERE awesome, back in the Dookie, Nimrod days, but since they were just wrapping it up and decided, fuck it let's do some POP they have sucked bigtime.
Talk about a fall from grace.
I would shit bricks if a Queens of the Stone Age came out with Dreamscapes like TB:RB. Imagine a Dreamscape for Mosquito or anything from Era Vulgaris.
Fuck I want more QotSA so hard.
"meh whatever I am too cool for WAIT WHAAAAAT? BRUUUUUCE?!
"BRUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!"
Your friend, eh? Well, I'm convinced!
Need more proof?
Page disses music games
Led Zeppelin uncomfrtable with music games
Pages manager says Led Zeppelin Rock Band or Guitar Hero will never happen
Literally all you have to do is Google Led Zeppelin and Music Games together and you get a massive amount of "lolfuckno".
I would love rock band - gwar, tho lol.
I will say that gh:wt showed me that rock band tool might not be as interesting as I would hope. While the music is awesome, the guitar and basslines are very repeatitive and not that fun to play.
Ah yeah, I know there's no chance of it happening, I just thought he could've cited a better source than "my friend". :P
"Also, Tool is literally the worst band of all time."
ahhaha Ænima and lateralus shit all over qotsa and there sludgy monotonous guitar wankage. You cant seriously think a legendary prog-metal group like tool are the worst band of all time right!!! maybe you think they are overrated, or maybe you are tone deaf!!
What tone deafness have to do with...oh nevermind.
I don't think they're overrated in the since that they've deserved their fanbase. They certainly have. But in my opinion they are god awful. I like Prog Metal and I think they're god awful. I can not stand Tool for the life of me. I'd listen to Miley Cyrus before I listen to Tool.
And how you can compare QotSA and Tool is beyond me. Apples and oranges, bro.
@Sexualchocolate: A Placebo: Rock Band game would be so amazing. I saw them live a few years ago and it was a downright sensual experience.
@Perry Simm: A Smiths: Rock Band game would be so fucking amazing and the guitar on expert would be brutal. It would be so awesome.
I still want some substantial blues DLC. John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, etc.
Also, WARREN ZEVON: ROCK BAND MOTHERFUCKERS.
Yeah, it's not the first time I've gotten shit for saying that. When I was in the RoCk Band forums...whew. You don't even wanna know. I became public enemy #1 for saying that.
They do blow pretty hard though. Right up there with Radiohead. Something about a bad band with a huge following makes them that much worse. If Tool fans weren't such dicks about people who didn't like Tool I might hate them a little less. I mean it's okay as music composition, and the band is full of smart guys, but it still sounds like shit. And then you add on the fanbase which is more annoying than any Justin Bieber fan will ever be and they hit rock bottom on the list of things I'd listen to to save my life.
Also, Warren Zevon is amazing.
Also, I got banned from the (un)official Rockband IRC (@GameSurge #RockBand) for saying I didn't like the Beatles when TB:RB was announced. The forums are a hellhole and I would never step into that cesspool of Kool-Aid drinking sheep.
From that list I would chose Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and U2. All the other bands are the worst of all time(see how *ugh* that sounds? D: )
Naw, I can only think of The Jonas Brothers and Radiohead as possible contenders.
I'd take Ke$ha, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, fuck I might even take Avril Lavigne over Tool. Do not like Tool. Not at all.
At least those acts I mentioned are shitty pop acts that seem at least sort of self-conscious of how much they suck. Tool tries way too fucking hard and...ergh...like nails to a chalkboard.
When you say things like "Also, Tool is literally the worst band of all time", of course people are going to get defensive and act like dicks. At this point you're instigating, knowing that reaction will come. Say that about any decent band (pretty much what has already been mentioned in the comments) and you'll get the exact same response. I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion, but I'd choose my wording more wisely.
I don't mind one-band-centric music games, but I prefer a smörgåsbord of different artists per game instead. As much as I loved both GH: Metallica and RB: The Beatles, I enjoyed the 'regular' games far.
Of course, I wouldn't pass up Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin either... but there's pretty much no way that would happen. *writes David Gilmour and Robert Plant a nice letter*
Maybe. I've come to learn no matter how I word it people get defensive so I don't much bother with being nice about it anymore.
I love you for your Aphex support. Also, Tool would not make a good source for an entire game. Every song is so long and monotonous. C'mon, though. Radiohead? The Bends/OK Computer would be sooooooooooooo much fun. And imagine the Richard D. James album mixed with Kid A on DJ Hero. You're still awesome.
@HeilHiggie: An Aphex Twin DJ Hero was what I thought would happen with the first game. I'm still waiting patiently. The Bends and Pablo Honey Radiohead are still enjoyable from time to time and OK Computer had some neat tracks but anything after that is just lame, pretentious noise.
Radiohead would probably be fun to play, I'll admit I've sung Creep more times than I'm willing to admit, but personally I think listening to them is boring. There are those songs that in Rock Band that I'd never listen to but love playing so I'd be more sympathetic to a Radiohead game.
And now I must post this:
