Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Several months ago, we showed you a very impressive concept video of what next-gen Star Wars games could look like. Today, two new videos have been released showing off how Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has shaped up. Saying these videos are impressive is an understatement.

The first video shows Storm Troopers as they are being thrown around trying to grab a wooden beam. All the while the narrator explains to us how the Euphoria Engine will work with the A.I. and the A.I.s surrounding environment.

Take the jump to see R2-D2s as they get chucked into wooden boards!

The second video shows off the Digital Molecular Matter technology. DMM is used to simulate matter in the game as if it was a real world item. As seen in the video, they destroy a wooden board that has the every day tech you see in other games. When they move on to the other board, it's as if an actual wooden board is getting hit.

The game is expected to come out this November for the 360, PS3, PS2 and the DS.

[Thanks xrayne446]

That's so awesome. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is definitely one of my most anticipated games of this year.

Is this the same tech they're using in the new Indy game?

Damn that's awesome. Strange that it's coming out on DS, but not Wii - I wonder if that'll change in the months to come?

I would pay 60 dollars for the game if the only gameplay was throwing R2D2 through wooden panels.

PS2???? That's not next gen. :(

It's going to hold back the other versions with its oldness.

This is going to open many possibilities. Although Star Wars games have been stinkers (in my opinion) since the X-Wing/TIE fighter days, this is something I'll keep an eye out on.

maybe they'll do another video with C3P0...."Master, PLEASE!"

Now imagine if a reaction system like this could be applied to fighting games. That would be killer.

As cool as all the dynamic interaction is, there's very very very noticeable lag when just the 1 board is being destroyed. I can only imagine what it would be like in any sort of firefight force pushing stormtroopers into everything. Plus, is it just me or did it break in much the same manner (on the fly swap of 2 sets of models) and the only difference is that the edges are a little different. It still seems to break across pre-dedicated break lines, and then throws the splintering effect. Unless they clean up the frame rates as the development goes on, I don't see this being a feature worth the processing power.

I'm in agreement with DeusPayne here.

The narration is nothing but marketing talk. Digital Molecular Matter? That's almost as exaggerated as Reality Synthesizer.

This is just an extension of what's been done with destructible environments for years. It's cool, it's fun, and it's way overdue. If everyone and their mom weren't so goddamn interested in 50,000 polygon models in HD, we already would have seen things like this.

I also don't expect it to be anywhere near that reactive in an actual game. As soon as they start working on framerate optimization, fluff like this will be among the first resource hogs to go.

Grim just reminded me. Doors have been fully interactive and destructible in Nethack for ... ever. Maybe now other game devs will think up more imaginative arbitrary impediments to your progress than almighty doors.
