Kids around the universe (excluding the US) can now access all the new premium Xbox LIVE Dashboard applications -- with parental approval, that is. According to Major Nelson, Microsoft launched an update earlier this afternoon allowing baby LIVE account owners access to Twitter, Facebook and Last.FM. Neat.
This update won’t be launching in the US until December 15th. Nelson points out that the apps will appear on the dashboard on the magical, mid-December date.
Good thing, too. We need the extra time in order to teach our children when to use hashtags and when to post death threats via social media. These are important lessons in the information age. #thingsuteachkids

I wonder how many of the LIVE accounts they so proudly shout about having are these "baby accounts" - I'd bet it's a good few! Like 50% at least.
A good piece of advise from a friend of a colleague who is trying to decide between a 360 a PS3 to replace her son's borked 360...
"He's only 11, a PS3 is perhaps a little too grown up for him, he'll be better off with the 360" - an all-console-owning person I don't know said it, not me!
My advice: "If he's just going to plug it into an SD TV and play games on it, it would probably be a waste getting a PS3, a 360 will suffice for a child to play games on, he can graduate to the PS3 when he's a little older."
