Video #1 :47- :55 that guy was going for ass shots. These videos make Kinect look worse then they are already.
I don't care if it was caused by the flash photography. What moron in the PR department didn't do a stress test for environmental factors before a public showing? This shows that, at minimum, Kinect has Neanderthals behind it. Put some thought into the work you do.

I think it's because they were too close to each other. When the machine told one of them to 'move left' I think it was so it could better track them.

I know you are joking :)...and ofcourse I don't think that people outside of Asia should be expected to tell the difference...but i can tell almost instantly. even without the cantonese in the video and the chinese characters, the girls' hairstyle is very much the current chinese fashion, and different from how japanese girls wear their hair these days..

Ya, expect they ARE Chinese, because the writing is Chinese, not any form of Japanese. Plus, they're too tall, and they're faces are a bit to round.
It is kind of validating to see this continued popular skepticism for the device. I felt like I was the only one who was unimpressed when they first talked it up at E3 '09. And, unlike many, it's not because I don't like motion controls. I like the Wii. I just felt that they were being too ambitious with the current technological limitations that we have.
Eh, I'll give you that it's not as intuitive as Microsoft would have you believe, but it definitely looks more like user error than failed tech. The thing kept telling the one on the right to move left, but she apparently didn't enough.

The screen says "MOVE LEFT". That's a pretty simple request. This is a camera that tracks your body an if you're too close to someone else then it's understanable it will tell you to put some distance between you and your co-gamer.
To wish this tanks and makes a whole team of people unemployed because a dozy bunt doesn't understand "MOVE LEFT" is more than harsh.

Kinect would is a good idea but the problem is, Nintendo beat them to the punch. no one wants to fork over money for a xbox 360 and the kinect when they get their motion controlled games with the wii already

I read some articles on the kinect showings at Macys and they had the same problems there.....the sad thing is, is that they probably will sell alot initially, but the things got the shelf life of a power glove.
Cantonese girls not Japanese. But that's already been said. I was more concerned about the wrongful labeling in the headline than I was with Kinect. Oh well.
Is there one clear way to tell Western Europeans a part? Sure they get more varied then Asians because they have a larger range of pigmentation in eyes, hair and so on (there is no arguing that, and if you do you are in clear denial), but British are not solely brunette and German or French are not solely blonde.
My point? There is no clear way to tell these girls are Chinese (etc) or not, because there are Japanese people that look like Chinese and vice versa. HELL, if black parents can have a white baby, then I'm sure there are many Japanese that look like Chinese (and so on).

If you lived in China or Japan before you would be able to tell them apart based on the hair style. It's like night and day to me...but I don't expect people outside of Asia to be able to tell the difference. I'm one of the few people supportive of motion controls around here. Love the Wii, picking up Move day one, but seeing a video like this makes it obvious why there are still so many skeptics. What a mess.
