Not brains, but something to chew on: Left 4 Dead demo details

9:05 AM on 09.30.2008, Nick Chester 16 comments

     PC

The first details have come in on the Left 4 Dead playable demo, which Valve claims will be available "shortly before release."

Speaking with De-Frag, Valve's Chet Falisek says that the demo will likely contain the game's first two maps. Part of the hospital campaign, the game will take players from zombie-infested streets to a zombie-infested subway ... either way, you're screwed. From what it sounds like, this area sounds similar to what Valve has shown press in the past (and was playable at PAX).

Left 4 Dead is scheduled to hit Xbox 360 and PC on November 18.

Can't wait for the demo. Stupid question - is the demo multi-player?

I'd hope it is co-op...I mean PAX was and the whole thing was multiplayer oriented, but many other gamers were multiplayer oriented in demo form.

Is this demo going to be PC-only, or does the 360 get some brains to feed on as well?

That'd be a really bad move on Valve's part... to release a beta/demo of an FPS focused heavily (actually primarily) on co-op... without co-op.

Pc demos are standard practice siince the days of freaking shareware doom if you have nay hope of people taking any notice of your game you have to have a demo.

@OrangeGoblin
I'm sure they mean both PC and 360, since they don't specify one or the other. 360 games almost always get demos anyway.

PC and 360 demo were confirmed, as was online co-op for the demo....

@Cube - You think Valve has to release a demo of this for people to take notice? Get real.

Valve could release "Happy Funland Romp" with no demo, and people would still eat that shit up.
