Not all games can be installed to 360 hard drive photo

With the arrival of the New Xbox Experience this past week came the ability to install games to the hard drive, reducing load times and eliminating the deafening noise produced by the console's DVD-ROM. We've already heard reports that some games won't have any improvement when installed, due to the way they were designed. Now, we've received word that some games simply cannot be installed at all.

The good news is that it's an pretty short list of titles (thus far, though more may exist). There are not only very good odds that you don't have most of the games in question, but that you would also not play them with enough frequency for it to be an issue. The only major exception being Crackdown, which does have some annoying load times that I would have liked to have cut back on.

The bad news is that Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 is on the list. I think we all know how interminable the wait can be to have an experience you're really looking forward to, joystick in hand. Well, it isn't going to get any shorter, I'm afraid.

The list of affected games follows the jump.

So basically, the three Burger King games (it's speculated that these run under some sort of enhanced Xbox 1 emulation), DOAX2 (oh noes, more loading between fapping), and an old sports game. Seems like Crackdown is the only casualty, and I don't know why it wouldn't work, since the Halo 3 beta was download-based, if I remember correctly.

Don't the Burger King games play on an original Xbox?

Re: Those games not being downloadable... meh.

And frankly I haven't noticed any huge improvements with load times (maybe a few seconds here and there) but that doesn't really bother me. The only 2 reasons I was dying for this function are the MASSIVE reduction in noise (doesn't sound like I'm playing in an airplane hanger anymore) and the reduction of wear and tear on the optical drive.

Reduced load times would be a very nice cherry on top, but I'm pleased as punch even without it.

That's it? I was expecting a longer list but it is good that so few games aren't install-able.

I haven't noticed any significant reduction in load times either. But I'm loving how much quieter it is.

It might just be me, but it seems like most of the menu lag in Fable 2 is cut back when playing it off the HDD.

It also could just be my imagination, which is fine too. If I believe it is happening, then that is almost as good.

Crackdown doesn't even need it, there's very little loading as it is.

It's not just you. On many games, frame rate and menu lag is also improved, especially in Fable II.

Also, boobs.

I don't care much for installing games onto my HDD. Honestly, I can wait the extra minute or two, and the noise isn't that annoying either.

Plus I only have about four gigs of space left, lol.

I put madden on my hard drive and it seems to load quite a bit quicker. I have an elite so space is not a problem. i haven't got around to installing gears 2 but i doubt it will be a noticeable improvement.
