Who knows? People thought a movie about Facebook was a terrible idea, and it ended up being one of the top 5 movies of the year.

This doesn't even sound original. It's essentially a Dirty Harry movie, just with a football player. So it's even less serious since the worst that can happen is an injury. At least Dirty Harry faced death.
If they had to make a Madden movie, which lets face it, WTF? But since they are, I'm glad they are doing something like this. It's funny cause it's real.
I'd rather see a movie that follows around John Madden as he curses at people. The tagline could be "fuck you, Madden."

Well I'm not a native speaker, but the way I understand this it's about a VIDEO GAME champion, not a football player (since that would've made too much sense). Which makes the entire premise of the film seem even dumber, hard as that sounds.

The movie is going to fail. This is the whole movie: football start is praised he gets on the cover of madden gets hurt nobody cares anymore rocky training montage plays that one last game to the very last split second and wins game for team and thanks madden curse for making him push him self to acheve awesomeness
