i've been playing violent games for years most of those games games have the m9 pistol in them. pick up my friends m9 airsoft repica and i had no idea how to use it. Holding a controller is not the same as holding a firearm.

Sounds like they're just trying to head off the eventual protests and boycott campaigns and related bullshit that would probably be headed their way as a game merchant in Norway.
Think of this from their point of view. They don't have a lot of crime in Norway. Things like this that would be newsworthy for a couple of days and forgotten in the US are basically the equivalent of their own 9-11 over there. There's going to be quite a bit of social fallout.
Is banning games the answer? No. But I understand why they're doing it.

We won't have to deal with this as much in the future as our generation - one that knows videogames - will be the ones in charge. Too bad for Norway, might as well ban all violent movies while they're at it too.
Blame a game, its the easy thing to do and save a politicians job. Anyone who goes on a shooting rampage and kills 50+ people has something seriously wrong going in their minds wayyyy before they played a Call of Duty. This goes beyond video games and material things. Its a human act of violence, not uncommon amongst human history. This thing happens from time to time in human society. They are called crazed murderers and no video game or song is responsible for that.

In some concession to the Coop Norway side of the fence, as an owner and regular (legal and licensed) user of nice .40 handgun for sport and self defense, some games can really teach you the dark side of engagement. Well I can relate to that. Norway is a small country with around 5 million people living there, 100 of them died due to this psychopath so you can guess that probably every norwegian knows someone that has lost a relative or a friend in that massacre.
Then again, since it even affected the Royal Family it's a wonder that they didn't send the Norwegian Army out to kill everyone who worked on Modern Warfare 2.

As silly as this seems to gamers, you have to respect a business's right to sell what they deem fit.
Just have to clarify this a bit. It's not a case of any games being banned in Norway, it's a case of individual store owners removing the games off the shelves. It's not a goverment decision. Most of the proper game stores here calls it bs, they do not agree with what the 2 retail chains are doing, and are continuing selling and displaying the games as before.
Personaly I think removing games of the shelfs is a kneejerk reaction, and many feel it's just a cheap pr stunt from them.

With the tragedy being so close to home for them, this becomes too much of a sensitivity issue for me to disagree with. I can grasp the idea of not wanting anything to do with something a man actual credits for helping him murder innocent people in your own back yard. It makes sense. And if it's not permanent then they are being quite reasonable. Waiting for everyone's hurt to blow over before they let that diabolical MW2 see the light of day again may be good for some of them.

That's what I was just thinking. I've been to the ones in Sweden, they just grocery stores, so it's not that big a deal to me. It would be like if 7-11 banned violent video games, no one would really care since its just a store where you buy slurpees.
