Nope, sorry, there probably won't be an Indigo Prophecy 2 photo

Ouch. If you thought there was a chance Indigo Prophecy could receive a sequel after developer Quantic Dream finished their PlayStation 3 exclusive title, Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer, you totally thought wrong. Like, dead wrong.

In an interview with 1UP, Quantic Dream co-founder David Cage killed all hope for an Indigo Prophecy 2, citing lack of inspiration as well as the possibility of “commercial disaster.”

“After Indigo, I wanted to work on something different because I thought [a sequel] would be a commercial disaster,” Cage said. “I quickly realized I had nothing more to say on this story and these characters.”

Well, at least he was candid. And, hey, Heavy Rain is still coming. Wipe those tears.

Wait.. people were looking forward to an IP sequel? How could anyone finish that game and still want to play more?

Good thing , most disapointing game I ever played .

I never expected a sequel after beating this game. It's a great stand-alone title, and a sterling example of an IP that would be ruined with a sequel. Heavy Rain is the spiritual successor anyways, as mentioned, and it won't be the last. In the future, I foresee tons more "interactive storytelling" games.

The game was full of so many plot holes that I don't know if a sequel would have helped or ruin the IP.

That's fine with me. I played all the way through Indigo Prophecy, and it was okay, but I don't think I'd want to visit it ever again.

Magnalon nailed it. Indigo was badass, but a sequel wouldn't make any sense at all. I always looked at Heavy Rain as the "sequel" anyway, albeit not related in story but in style.

^ agreed.

although it might take a while for Heavy Rain to hit shelves (From what I've read, this game is huge)

I've never played Fahrenheit, but it's good to hear of a designated stand-alone game being kept that way.

It's defintiely standalone, but the plot is just so ridiculous by the end that it's probably best to jsut leave it alone. Great experiment, hopefully Quantic Dream will have learned from their mistakes.

thank god. It was totally overrated. Crystal Dynamic should make a sequel to Omikron: The Nomad Soul. They talk about it every so often then drop it when they move to another project like Heavy Rain, very disappointing.

Fuck yea! Please make a sequel for Omikron! I can't wait to play as a video gamer playing a video game!

Maybe they can make a sequel of the first half of Indigo Prophecy, because the second half is when the designers and writers started taking the drugs.

Good. Quantic Dream's game design philosophy of less gameplay, more cinematics sucks. It's entertaining enough and all, but it's slightly worrying that it's being held up as an example of a mature adult game, when it is essentially a straight to DVD sci-fi yarn with QTEs.

This really isn't that surprising. The game didn't really have any loose ends and a sequel just wouldn't sit right with this game.

It doesn't need a sequel. Fahrenheit is a complete story in and of itself. Asking for a sequel for this is pointless. This is why I want to see developers and companies publicised more - if you read a book by a good author, you don't ask that author to make a sequel to the first book. You'll just buy their books.

Bring on Heavy Rain and anything else they feel like making. Quantic Dream is on my buy list along with Ubisoft-Montpelier and Double Fine. I'll buy anything they make.

I enjoyed IP, but I certainly don't want a sequel. I would love to see more experimentation in that genre, but I don't need or want to revisit those specific characters.
