Nod ya head to these Final Fantasy VI instrumental mixes photo

Today is unofficially Final Fantasy day. Even if you aren't heading down to the store to pick up FFXIII-2, you can still celebrate by grabbing some delicious fan-made music arrangements. I've already informed you of rapper Random's Black Materia: The Remixes album, but if that isn't your bag, maybe you'll enjoy a FFVI remix compilation care of frequent Random collaborator K-Murdock.

Hero Muzik Vol. 1 is the first in a series that celebrates some of K-Murdock's favorite RPGs, starting with Final Fantasy VI. The album tackles the theme songs of all 14 playable characters, taking the original SNES tunes and giving them a fresh spin. It's pretty similar to the Ocarina of Time-based Flyrule I shared a while back, so if you enjoyed that one, you'll probably dig this as well.

You can grab a digital copy of Hero Muzik Vol. 1 for $8 or physical copy with extra tracks for $13. Visit the Bandcamp page or check the embed below to sample some sounds.

Cool idea, but the previews make it seem like these are all basically just the original tracks with canned drum loops laid over the top of them. Maybe sliced up slightly in some places.

If that's the case, I'd rather just listen to the originals.

Interesting premise, but it literally sounds like he took the instrumental versions and added a useless and poor sounding bass line plus a few electronic "bloops" and "bleeps". I'll pass.

Yeah, I'm with Keres and Kethaebra on this one. The previews make me want to listen to the original game music more.

Not to take away from K-Murdock's work or anything, but still...

Flyrule was the shit. That Gerudo remix is nasty.

What has he done to Locke's theme?! There is a bit more to it than the handful of tones in that track. This makes me sad as that is my favorite theme from the game.

These are just...bad. No offense meant at all to the person that made them, but you can find much better for free on OCRemix.

There's a little more done than just dropping a drum loop on top. Anyway, these are actually what remixes are.

@twesterm

OC Remix, surprisingly, doesn't actually deal in "remixes." It deals in arrangements and re-compositions.

I can accept that, but it still doesn't really change the fact that it's crazy someone wants money for this.

Phew. A second there I was thinking: "Wow, I've hit the point where I can say: "I don't get this. Maybe I'm too old for what the kids are listening to these days"".

But seeing the comments here was reassuring. Thanks guys.

What? CD Only tracks? Son. I'd pay MORE just to get those tracks if that's what you wanted. Not going to play Customs Chicken to get three tracks.

For some reason these particular remixes don't resonate with me as much as Flyrule did. Thanks for sharing though.

They've misspelt "Music". I can't buy this! If I did then I'd have to take back everything I've ever said about that "Ke-Dollar-Sign-Ha" girl.

God I fucking love K-Murdock, especially for his Panacea stuff.

These might be REAL REMIXES but they're still no good. I checked out the Terra one on bandcamp and the percussion overpowered everything, while slowing the melody down added little.

This doesn't really resonate with me. It's not bad but it doesn't do much to elevate the music for me.

Sadly only the protagonists' themes are remixed. I was hoping for a Kefka's theme remix... :/
