Oh man. Today is just full of sad news. First we found out that a The Flash game was in the works. Then we saw what would have been a new Road Rash game. To top it all off, there was also a next-gen Mutant League game in the works.
Mutant League Resurrection was being developed by EA Chicago in 2005 but got canceled due to lack of funding. It looks like Resurrection was going to be a multi-sports title too, as evidence by the football field getting transformed into a hockey rink.
The closest we'll probably get to a Mutant League game is Blood Bowl, sadly. Not to say that Blood Bowl is bad. It's just, I really want a Mutant League game. *Sad mutated pandas.*
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Dammit man! I still got the mutant league cartoon on tape & the action figures. Now we won't have a chance to stick around and find out how the finished product will be like.
It's the one and only animated sports show I like. Bone Justice & Mad dog kicks ass. The fake commercials are awesome too.
Don't know about the cartoon, but I loved the original game. If the video is right in saying it's a fan creation, then nothing on EA. However, if it was canceled, then EA needs to kick new life into that son of a bitch. If it never existed, then they need to get on that because now is the perfect time for a new Mutant League franchise.
The game was not cancelled. The game was never started. Notice the part on the video title that says "Fan Creation?" Maybe this will help, taken from the Youtube info section.
"This is a example animation that some of us EA Testers put together in 2005. Robert, Aaron, Manny & I all worked hard on it. They did an awesome job!!
We worked on it in our spare time externally of EA. We showed it at EA, but didn't create it there."
Simple question, how can EA cancel something they never started?
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Dude...EA...WHAT THE FUCK!?!
Get Jon Stewart on the phone. We need a Jew to beat some sense into these dumbasses.

GOD DAMN IT EA.
Goddamit, EA. You were starting to emerge as one of the cool developers, especially after saving Brutal Legend. But this? DAMMIT!
