Konami revealed Saw II during their decked out preview event last night here in San Francisco. The new game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the sequel to last year's gruesome horror game and is set in between the first and second Saw movies.
You'll be following Detective Tapp as he is forced to go through all of Jigsaw's new and deadly traps. The game immediately begins with Tapp having to cut open his face in order to pull out a key that unlocks the device over his head. Take too long and the trap will crush Tapp's head.
Saw II will be out this Fall, most likely right around Halloween.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Loved the first one though and cant wait for more on this.
Frankly, I'd rather see another mediocre Saw game than see Konami continue to butcher Silent Hill. I'd actually rather be tied to a chair and forced to beat Saw II three or four times in a row or loose my balls to an elaborate ball trap than see Konami fuck up Silent Hill any more than they have.
What. Utter. Bollocks.
Not my idea of fun.
The only good Saw was the first film. Had a great twist.
However they have milked this series far too much. A game? No. I didn't even know there was a Saw game at all...
Games based on films really irk me in all honesty...
Themightylebeau2009: Sounds like somebody decided not to take the "Truth" ending, the one where Tapp lives (if you call being locked in a rubber room, "living").
*puts on glasses*
Call shotgun.
YYYYYYYEEEAAAAAAAHHHH!!!
Oh, yeah...that might be morbid/creepy if the graphics were, you know, decent. Not really.
I stopped keeping up with the Saw stuff quite some time ago. I thought the second film was clever because it didn't depend on gore to hook the audience. I really enjoyed seeing Jigsaw outsmart everybody in that one.
Thing is, the later films turned into mindless crap and I lost all interest after seeing the fourth one. It's good to see positive comments about the game though. I'll have to check that out when I get a chance.
What I really want is for them to make one where you play as Jigsaw himself, in something like a current gen version of Tecmo's Deception series. That would be all kinds of badass right there.
@ Sir Legendhead - Definitly worth a rent, and some of the puzzles/traps are quite clever. The one where your in a basement with ankle high water and a lowereing power outlet was good.
Dammit, I want to play it again now
@ Driver Sim - Less pipemania bits would be nice.
@ Tenz - you and every other person says stuff like that need to get over yourselves.
