Konami revealed Saw II during their decked out preview event last night here in San Francisco. The new game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the sequel to last year's gruesome horror game and is set in between the first and second Saw movies.

You'll be following Detective Tapp as he is forced to go through all of Jigsaw's new and deadly traps. The game immediately begins with Tapp having to cut open his face in order to pull out a key that unlocks the device over his head. Take too long and the trap will crush Tapp's head.

Saw II will be out this Fall, most likely right around Halloween.

Not being funny, but Tapp was the character in the first game and [SPOILER] Died at the end[SPOILER] He was also black, as evideced by the fact he was played by Danny Glover.

Loved the first one though and cant wait for more on this.

Seriously? Like the film series, one is enough.

Shitty film series = Shitty game series.

Given the fact the first still sells for £30 preowned I can see this being just as popular, just like the films its a money maker. Fall 2010? Why not just admit its coming out the same time as the movie.

What SpidaMahn said. It's suspicious enough when we see video game tie-ins to good movies, but when the movies already suck you know there's no escaping the mediocrity.

I hate to say it, but the game wasn't that bad. It was insanely short, and weapons were useless compared to your hands, but it really wasn't that bad. It's also about what you expect plot wise, and it does justice with the movie's (weak) mythology. Dear god I wouldn't buy the game, but it was definitely worth the rental, and I don't regret playing it.

Frankly, I'd rather see another mediocre Saw game than see Konami continue to butcher Silent Hill. I'd actually rather be tied to a chair and forced to beat Saw II three or four times in a row or loose my balls to an elaborate ball trap than see Konami fuck up Silent Hill any more than they have.

I feel that some of the impact of being forced to do these horrible "games" yourself is lost by your inability to feel pain. I saw those brief clips of gameplay and thought "oh, so I just have to be clinically precise and ignore the guy's whimpers." The films didn't have this problem, since you weren't beating the games, the characters were. But when you have to do it, a disconnect like that will get in the way of enjoyment.

I really liked the first Saw game, found it to be one of the best movie licence games in a long time, not to mention that it's actually canon to the movies as well. However, a sequel 1 year later after the first game was worked on for 3 years? I don't know... But hey, Left 4 Dead pulled it off so who knows, maybe Zombie Studios will pull it off as well, assuming they're developing this time as well.

NO surprise? The success of the first wasn't enough to guarantee a sequel.

After reading more ont he game and seeing how it revolves around puzzles I became very interested in it. I love puzzles and what not (Silent Hill) so if I see the 1st on for $20 or so I'm buying it.

No thank you D:
Not my idea of fun.
The only good Saw was the first film. Had a great twist.
However they have milked this series far too much. A game? No. I didn't even know there was a Saw game at all...
Games based on films really irk me in all honesty...

Actually, I have to say that Saw really surprised me with its quality. Certainly not the best game I played this year, but it far exceeded my expectations. I'd recommend a rental, as there's some clever concepts in there that are, unfortunately, simply not developed enough to be perfect.

Themightylebeau2009: Sounds like somebody decided not to take the "Truth" ending, the one where Tapp lives (if you call being locked in a rubber room, "living").

Also, none of us should be surprised. There's a room in the game with a note that explicitly states Jigsaw's next game would be revealed to games journalists this April.

Yeah, duh. How can you guys not find the note that explicitly states Jigsaw's next game would be revealed to games journalists this April?

Will it have Move and Natal support? Cause that would be awsome if some dumb ass really tried to cut their eye out with a scalpel or a razor blade.

So the first one is worth playing? That's a surprise.

I stopped keeping up with the Saw stuff quite some time ago. I thought the second film was clever because it didn't depend on gore to hook the audience. I really enjoyed seeing Jigsaw outsmart everybody in that one.

Thing is, the later films turned into mindless crap and I lost all interest after seeing the fourth one. It's good to see positive comments about the game though. I'll have to check that out when I get a chance.

What I really want is for them to make one where you play as Jigsaw himself, in something like a current gen version of Tecmo's Deception series. That would be all kinds of badass right there.

@ Conrad Zimmerman - I did get both endings but they should of made it so you had to play through twice to get it....not just use 'strategic saving'.

@ Sir Legendhead - Definitly worth a rent, and some of the puzzles/traps are quite clever. The one where your in a basement with ankle high water and a lowereing power outlet was good.

Dammit, I want to play it again now

@ Driver Sim - Less pipemania bits would be nice.

@ Tenz - you and every other person says stuff like that need to get over yourselves.

That screenshot of the dude cutting his face may be the worst I've seen in a long time. It looks atrocious, graphically, he's cutting himself and not just the stitches (presumably to get some key or random bit of shit sewn into his face), and most of all, this is a videogame? Cutting open your avatar's face? Man, that's riveting shit right there. That's certain to be the next big thing like cover systems and regenerating health- mutilating your avatar. Gears of War 3 will have Dom performing self surgery in 1:1 detail in real time after every battle to heal.
