Super Meat Boy will eventually find its way to Xbox 360, Wii and PC, excluding as it will a PS3 release. Now, because you start stamping your feet and shouting "BIAS" while tears start to cloud your vision, make sure you direct your anger at the right people -- Sony itself.
"Why wont this question die? We have answered it publicly at least 15 times but it just never ends," says Team Meat. "We can't EVER do a PS3 version of Super Meat Boy because when we were going into negotiations with publishers, Sony was the only one that didn't express much interest in the game. We assumed this meant they didn't want the game, and [we] decided to sign with Nintendo and Microsoft.
"Our contracts excluded any release on PS3. We would have loved to do a PS3 version, but its not at all possible whatsoever now, so please stop asking about it."
That legitimately surprises me. Sony has often demonstrated itself as welcoming of unique indie titles, leading to a PSN full of rich, varied and unique games. The fact it snubbed Team Meat is disappointing to say the least. Ah well, Sony's loss is everybody else's gain, apparently.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Yep, when PSN starts getting unique games like this and limbo then well talk.
Your "glancing" abilities clearly surpass that of us mortals since you can post on a story that you didn't read.
Too bad for PS3 owners. It's easily my favorite download-only title of the year. It reminds me of the crushing difficulty from the NES days. PC is good alternative, but you'll need a robust gamepad that can take a few collisions with the floor/wall.
"Our contracts excluded any release on PS3."
So, the blame would more than likely be on Microsoft, or Nintendo. I'm sure that had Meat Boy become more popular or generated some cash, then Sony would have been more than happy to take it onboard.
This is an obvious exception.
You guys are very sensitive. I'm looking at you, Nzdjjhboi. Cheer up.
If a game like this doesn't interest them initially, I see that as a fault. Sony is to blame because they obviously can't recognize an awesome game when they see it.
Wow, that was impressive, even for you.
The ball was in Sony's court. The offer was there, and Sony turned it down. Team Meat could have left the option open, but was then offered (what I assume to be) a bit more favourable terms to agree not to let Sony change its mind later.
It'd have been a snub if they said "Yeah, fuck Sony! Microsoft and Nintendo for life, yo!" They didn't. Sony didn't want the title, and if Sony didn't want it, Team Meat couldn't publish on it.
Not against you, but your emphasis on "dumb" is suspiciously sour like a grape.
sony wants exclusive indie stuff, they don't like having to share that pie to the other systems in terms of advertising. and sony wants to fund any indie games that come to their console so they can then own the devs and have some kind of creative input.
As far as I know he really didn't quit, but they had to kick him out because he was being a douche inside the company, or so I was told.
But this is completely off topic.
Sp while this isn't totally unheard of, I'll admit I thought this was a Kutaragi issue and not a Sony issue. Go fig.
Did you even read the article?
Sony seems to prefer titles that are less interested in being games and more interested in being art. Except Joe Danger, which is one of my favourite PS3 games.
Starting with the PS1, Sony built their gaming empire on 3D gameplay. They don't get 2D.
Oh well, I was planning to get it for the PC since the beginning.
iirc back in the PSX days Sony was all but forcing devs to make their games 3D. Sounds like they're keeping up that practice, which is a bummer.
Also sounds like they're only willing to pick up 2D games long after they've been a hit, and most people probably stopped caring, which is also a bummer. :(
are you an idiot? PS1 classics alone rapes everything XBLA has to offer. i would rather get unreleased PS1 games that never made it to the west. instead of bullshit things like avatars and themes.
and oh fuck yeah No More Heroes Paradise coming in the PS3. expect the eventual release of No More Heroes 2 Paradise with basically all of the features from the 1st paradise with extra goodies(maybe Henry's sidestory or Shinobi's way of becoming the number 1 assassin in japan)
sad to say about this news. though both sides have their plus and minuses. like the XBLA not getting steam support, others exclusive bullshit DLC etc...
and if you want more indie games that are really diverse and unique not to mention easy way and hassle free? go for PC(which they are already doing)
PS3 is just the port of NMH + longer loading times + bikinis and suds is not involved... And Suda said "NO MORE HEROES 2 only on Wii"
I'm vegan so I want no part of this fucking meat shit :-P, but this article and so many others like it seem like nothing more than fodder for the fanboys. I am just so tired of the console fighting. It's not even real! It's totally imaginary!! Just play and enjoy a game console or maybe 2 or 3 of them!! That's all you have to do!!
sorry for calling you idiot. since destructoid is known for trolling by users. but you seem to be a good guy so my bad ^^
@janoDX i guess you have not followed the news in the game no? Paradise features an "IMPROVED loading times, Blood?, EXCLUSIVE BOSS FIGHTS FROM NMH2 which don't make sense but it's there(hopefully dark star is). not to mention Tak Fuji(ONE MIRRION TRUPS) is a fan of NMH so he's making it the best deal possible.
http://www.siliconera.com/2010/11/10/fight-no-more-heroes-2-bosses-on-ps3-in-heroes-paradise/
and even though Suda is not involved in the development of paradise, they still made it. heck i already bought the first 2 games from the wii and the imported version(which is 90$) im willing to buy this again just for the english subs and dual track alone. remember what happened to sigma 2 when itagaki say's there won't be a port of 2 for the PS3? yeah so anything is possible.
please support this, i saw the credits suda's supervisor of the game. it's sad the first 2 games never became hits. hopefully by now alot of people will be buying this. oh No More Heroes 3 please :)
they have most SNK games there :(
seriously no KOF 2002UM and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum on PSN :(
You think that after Braid and Castle Crashers that they'd learn, right?
