No, seriously: NES purse mod

No, seriously: NES purse mod photo

We come across some pretty strange console mods here on Destructoid. While it seems that most mods are purely a visual thing, some shoot for function or portability. I can only guess that was the goal with this latest find, a NES Purse.

For this mod to be of any value to you, you'd have to first be part of the purse carrying public. And you'd have to be a brave soul. If you are, A LCD screen and two velcroed-on NES controllers let you plunk down your purse for portable gaming action anywhere you are. A flip of the switch turns this accessory from game system to portable computer -- Commodore 64 action is built-in. While it's not finished, this purse is still not as elegant as it first sounds. In the video (below the jump) you'll see that it's just a bunch of circuit boards in a bag.

Call me crazy, but doesn't a Nintendo DS or PSP fit in most purses?

Have you seen the inside of a woman's purse!? You'd be lucky to fit a stick of fucking chewing gum in it, let alone a PSP or a DS.

True story: I once lost my car keys for an entire month in my wife's purse. I lost 8 good men and a bloodhound that was 1 week from retirement.

It's kind of an E for effort, but yeah...I'd just carry a modded DS.

I agree with Colette, the effort is cool but I would think you would be better served by a modded PSP or DS. However I will say the LCD would be quite nice for on the go porn :D.

It would be cool if she could build one into a laptop or messenger bag for the guys.

Goddammit,is it not enough that nearly every device I own can play games already?Do we really need to start putting games in our clothes and accessories?Sigh, either way, this mod is kinda cool, but the practicality factor is -100

It seems practical more than anything. It's nice that they managed to tinker around and make that thing. But it isn't something I'd really carry around.

Looks a little too cumbersone and tacky. There should be a flap to cover the NES side of the purse, so it won't stand out.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

this is why we have psp-nes emulation, to stop abominations like this.

Where did we go wrong?!? WHERE?!?!

She could have chosen a nicer purse to start with. It does look tacky.
