Poor Clover studios. Its critically acclaimed Okami never sold well, the studio got dissolved, and now, to add insult to injury, Capcom had decided not to credit the developers in its beloved adventure game's Wii port, effectively severing ties between Clover and its creation.

"I feel dejected, and not only because my own name has been erased from my creation," confessed Okami director Hideki Kamiya on his blog."Of course we have pride in our work and we want to scream 'We made this!' from the top of our lungs. But more than that, the fact that they cut the entire staff is utterly deplorable."

Capcom's excuse is that the Clover logo was contained on the credits, which were part of a pre-rendered cutscene. That's an incredibly lame excuse as far as I'm concerned. I know Capcom seems to have trouble with removing logos from images, as the watermark nonsense proved, but come on. The people who actually made the game deserve credit.

Hey Jim you forgot to file this under the various negative tags you usually use.

This really gets on my nerves.
I have this unholy rage against plagiarism, and that's what this port looks like.

popularize the story! If there's enough popularity, maybe capcom will do something about it?

(the kotaku story already has 27 diggs which is why i didn't submit a dtoid version)

Spooky Electric: Thanks for the explanation.

So, now that I know I'm missing artwork and stuff embedded in the credits I'm a little disappointed. Nonetheless, I still think those who don't have a PS2 need to buy this game, for it is excellent and deserves to be experienced regardless how gimped this version may be.

The cover art fiasco was embarrassing, but excusable because they offered free replacements. This, however, is just plain wrong.

Just another reason for collectors to pick this up.

@Cyberxion: Woops. I meant the player's guide. It's got a nice big IGN logo on it too.

This is what created Activision in the first place, lack of credit to the people who made the game. Assholes.

Yeah, this is really deplorable. Not that I read credits, but if I were to have a hand in making a masterpiece, I'd want my name on it.

I really love Capcom, but that was a major screw up.
The Clover guys are really geniuses and don't deserve this kind of treatment.

As others have said, time to find the PS2 version. I'm just sorry that I didn't buy it brand new when it came out... The clover team did not deserve this.

I know you guys are saying fuck Capcom now, but you'll all love them come Resident Evil 5.

But I won't. Cos I'm not interested.

I'm glad I bought this for PS2 at full price cause I really cant support the new version. It would have taken 2 seconds to say thanks to the original Okami team and list their names or an unlock able original ending credits.

if it isn't one thing, it's another. it's a shame to see a publisher like capcom take a big gold and blue dump all over a wonderful game like okami for no obvious reason.

This will be one of those games that people eventually will talk about and never realize that it came out earlier on the ps2.

Okami was one of the games so good that I actually sat and watched the entire credits. If something was brilliant you really do want to know who made it and if they were going on to do more... Poor Clover, being axed and now being erased.

I could've sworn I posted how deplorable this shit was yesterday. Ah well, still fucking disgusting. It's like michael jackson releasing a beatles compilation without mentioning john, paul, george and ringo.

May Viewtiful Joe and Amaterasu team up and kick the arse of whoever thought of cutting that awesome credit scene with a slow-vfx zoomed Power Slash brush tech.
