No plans for No More Heroes 3, Travis could still return photo

In a recent interview with GoNintendo Suda51, the creator of No More Heroes, dropped some interesting news. He has no plans for making a No More Heroes 3. However, this might not be the end for Travis Touchdown.

When asked if he had a longer story for Travis planned or if another character might be taking over for a No More Heroes game Suda51 responded, "Unfortunately, the story for Travis alone is completed in No More Heroes 2. I am very curious about his life after this; however, we have no plan for No More Heroes 3."

No plans for 3 then. He could just be throwing people off the scent, but I'd be plenty happy with Travis jumping to another game or series. With my understanding of the two games he really shouldn't come back in a No More Heroes game. It just wouldn't make sense with the overall message, story and ideas behind the games. More Travis, no more No More Heroes.

Suda51 interview - No plan for No More Heroes 3, MotionPlus interest, hope for NMH2 to remain Wii exclusive, NMH DS is 'interesting', eager to make new Killer 7 [GoNintendo]

Please can Travis be in the next Smash Bros. game?! He's so fit for it!

As much as I love me some NMH, I'd really like to see Suda move onto a new project.

He did say he wouldn't mind him being in a Smash Bros before. While that wouldn't be a full game based on him, it would still be awesome.

But...didn't Suda say he wanted to make NMH3 on the next Nintendo console?

Then again, Suda is always changing his mind. Who knows that the hell we'll be getting out of him next, though a third No More heroes would definitely be appreciated. :)

I'm here all week.

So he has no plans for a No More Heroes...

And someone says he'd make one for a new Nintendo console...

and there are currently "No Plans" for a new Nintendo console.

All related, I reckon.

Man, I hope he changes his mind. NMH is one of my favorite video game series ever and I would hate to see it end so early.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. To continue Travis's story wouldn't feel sensible, but Travis in many ways IS No More Heroes. I really can't imagine No More Heroes without him, and for God's sake, his face was on the logo for NMH2 for a while. He even calls himself the 'No More Hero'.

Maybe some sort of elaboration on the last few moments of NMH2 (taking place during ending to epilogue scene time space) would be the way to go. Although, Suda should only continue the series if he has a new fitting message within the game to deliver. Otherwise, I'd like to see what else the man has to offer.

But if ever a No More Heroes without Travis? Please, no.

I think Travis is a good character, I'd like to see him in other games. As for the series, I could take it or leave it.

As a big Suda 51 fan, I am both happy about Suda's current decision.

Happy because it gives Suda a chance to work on something new and different. There just comes a time when you need to start working on something else especially before a franchise is subjected to being milked to death.
Besides, I'm always up for Suda's next crazy and stylish game concept.

Sad because NMH is an enjoyable franchise and not just because of its gameplay but also due to its story and characters.

I can still see No More Heroes taking on a spin-off like approach by featuring a new character or perhaps a side character such as Shinobu. Heck, how awesome would it be to have to face Travis as one of the top ranked UAA assassins in NMH 3 ?

After all, a part of the theme in NMH is the blessing and curse that comes with trying to be the best assassin around. To be the best means you have to lose a sense of your humanity by holding no value for human life because the role of an assassin is to kill or be killed. In addition, the lack of humanity in being an assassin also has an impact on your relationship with other characters. Of course, the other issue is that being an assasin means other assassins will try to hunt you down.

Travis didn't really learn this until the game's sequel. Being the best ultimately lost all meaning to him because the price to pay was too great.
I'm sure Suda and his dev team could come up with some more clever ideas for a potential NMH 3 story and give it meaning behind it despite Travis not serving as the main character.

I still haven't got around to No More Heroes 2 but NMH had a fine ending for me. I know it didn't leave the game closed but I never felt like it had to have a sequel. Still looking forward to getting my hands on NMH2.

As long as Suda 51 continues making his games zany and downright crazy I don't care what it is as long as it makes sense to him and maybe two people in the world :P

This doesn't sound like a mislead. To me it sounds like Travis will be involved in some kind of Mario Kart, Smash Bros or etc. title.

Travis' English voice actor does such an amazing job, really helping to define the character. That guy is one of the best in the business.

I dunno, I feel like NMH2 was meant to be a conclusion for Travis, ie. the end of his desperate struggle. To bring him back into the garden of madness would feel inappropriate. I wouldn't mind seeing him cameo in another Suda51 game (you know, provided they don't kill him off or something), but to make him the main character again? Let sleeping dogs lie I say.

But whatever, Suda51 is a goddamn genius and I'll love whatever he makes.

No More Heroes this generation is done.
No More Heroes 3 if it comes will be next generation.
Another No More Heroes starring Travis isn't going to happen.

He's said this pretty clearly before guys. Now when every site is reporting his small comments from various interviews in tends to get mixed up and confusing.

@ kinja: Suda said that was not going to happen because Capcom has the rights to it, not him.

Yes, let NMH rest for the next generation (HD ports are fine, though!).
Suda has several projects he can do (still holding him to that Silver Case remake for the DS), so just be excited he's still making stuff.
BTW, did NMH2 really didn't sell that well? If that's true, damn - I don't know what's with the world, but it makes glad there are people like him in the industry x10.

I bet that NMH2's sales in Europe and Japan will largely determine if there is a 3rd game in the series. The game didn't sell so hot here in the states.

What could Grasshopper possibly do in another sequel? NMH 2's storyline was pretty weak.

What I want is a modern samurai epic starring Shinobu with Travis making occasional badass cameos like Snake in MGS2.
