Bummer.
While I understand the difficulties of putting a game like this online and still having it play fluidly, if Geometry Wars 2 is anything like the first game online playability should be possible. Will it take some time to get the net code humming along flawlessly? Sure, but I certainly think it's worth it.
Perhaps there are complications I can't possibly know of, but it sure seems like online play should be a possibility.
bullshit!
LIES! ALL LIES!!!
I was looking forward to playing this online :( I don't even have 4 controllers.
All I care about is better, more detailed leaderboards, a replay highlight reel, and the ability to jump to 100,000 points once you clear a million points. Those I want. Co-op, eh.
Why would they put a decidedly multiplayer game on a decidedly multiplayer console and give it no online. It makes no sense.
Better local multiplayer than online multiplayer in my opinion, not that it should be only one or the other.
Damnit, now I have to go make friends...
Too busy for high speed connections? That doesn't make sense . . .
so now the value of the game has dropped to about 10% marketing value.
I'm not bothered. I'm one of the few who prefers local multiplayer to online in most cases anyway.
FAIL
Aw. That's ok. It still looks awesome.
I don't get what it is with this game anyway? It looks exactly as Geometry Wars.
BASTARDS!
I've been playing GW again since the news it will be here in August...And as much as I honestly love the game, there is way too much going on to have another player in there. I actually thought to myself the blowing apart of geometric shapes was too big and busy...By the time you get to the 6x multipier there is so much on screen that it almost works against you. I am missing 4 achievements (survive 500k/1 mil, get 9 bombs and something else..) When I hit 1 million I almost wet myself. I can't wait for GW2.
I'm going to go with "lazy developers" as the excuse for this one.
If they could get Geometry Wars to do wireless multiplayer on the DS, then they can do an online mode over Live.
If there is any "laziness" it is that it took this long for a new GW to release over the XBLA...I bought PGR4 more for GW: Waves than I did for the racing...and I'm pissed I only get one life per game. If they could include that in PGR4, how couldn't they stick that up on the arcade? I'd have happily plopped down another 10 bucks for a new GW game...And after they released the DS one, I was pissed because I didn't get a new GW on the arcade. I never really liked playing on a gameboy or game gear of GBA...Not for me. But I'm glad I'll get more GW goodness in a few weeks.
And GTA 4 isn't busy? I'm disappointed.
Net code can be a lot more forgiving with FPS or racing games than with shumps. They probably could have done it, but it most likely would have been laggy as shit a lot of the time.
I don't really care. I haven't stopped playing Super Stardust since I picked it up.
"the game is too busy to work well over the Internet."?
Come on Bizarre Creations... come on...
Take an extra week to put in the work, we've been waiting long enough anyway.
"I don't get what it is with this game anyway? It looks exactly as Geometry Wars."
You say that like it's a bad thing.
That screenshot looks intense. I suppose a DS port is out of the question?
Well, this was pretty obvious. A bit of latency from someone and it'd be pretty much game over.
