No MotionPlus in Wii Music, lack of depth perception to match lack of depth photo

If you were afraid that Wii Music was at risk of being interesting, then fear not, because good ol' Shigeru Miyamoto is here to set things right. The impish game creator has confirmed that MotionPlus will not be supported by Wii Music for the sake of accessibility.

The Nintendo workhorse did, however, suggest that if MotionPlus became a popular fixture, an updated Wii Music might be released to take advantage:

"But I would think, going forward, once we have an installed base for Wii MotionPlus that's large enough, then we would look at potentially doing a version of Wii Music that includes other instruments where, if you do have one or maybe two Wii MotionPlus devices, then you would have much greater ability to... It would be an instrument that would take great advantage of what Wii MotionPlus could do to allow you to perform music."

Miyamoto also stated that MotionPlus would be a good way to present a new level of challenge to players after Wii Music had been on the shelves for a while:

"In an instance like that then we might, perhaps, be looking at what we can do with Wii MotionPlus to create those instruments that are a lot more difficult and challenging to play, but give the player perhaps greater satisfaction because they have more direct control of the sounds they are creating. We could even perhaps start experimenting with that relatively soon."

Personally, I'm not up for holding a white stick to my mouth while someone tells me it's a trumpet, but MotionPlus would have added to the experience. I have no doubt in my mind that, should the extra waggle doingle take off, we'll be seeing a new Wii Music that supports it sooner rather than later.

I played wii music for for 5 minutes then took the disc out of my wii and threw it somewhere. I beat the tutorial by holding the wiimote and nunchuck in one hand and shaking at the screen. Honestly wii music could,ve been a great game but it lacks one major thing and that is depth. It also could've been great if they had a composer utility.

I'm actually thinking about picking up Wii Music for my 2 year old, I have a feeling he would love it. They had a video on the Nintendo Channel where Miyamoto plays the game with a bunch of Japanese kindergartners and it was all kinds of adorable.

He was playing it with KINDERGARTENERS! I wisth that Nintendo would actually make something worth playing, instead of all of these non games.

This game is selling pretty bad. We got 60 copies in our store and only 8 have left the store, 4 of which were pre-orders.

"if MotionPlus became a popular fixture"

Popular like... the e-Reader and the Gamecube Broadband Adapter, hmm?

I find it more likely that those peripherals didn't take off because, to address the former: "consumerz do NOT WANT ONLINE GAMES" and to address the latter: it was an absolutely dismal attempt at gimmickery. To my misfortune I own both of these piss-stupid contraptions. Perhaps that says something about me as a person or something.

I think MotionPlus will take off as long as Nintendo a) markets it effectively, and b) offers it as a pack-in with a high profile game. Then again, if it is successful we can probably just base that success on the mass appeal of the Wii.

Regardless, those two accessories were worth bringing up, sammich, as Nintendo does have a history of releasing 32x-style flops here and there.

I'm really glad I'm no longer blind to Nintendo's suckery. Anything for the Wii get's the minimal priority over anything else. I just finished No More Heroes, was pretty fun, cleverly gave you a lot of money at the end because they knew doing the jobs got really dull.

I hope that everyone/the general public suddenly get(s) bored of the Wii/DS fad and Nintendo lose billions of dollars. Probably not though, but I'd love to see the smirks wiped from their wrinkly, smug, little faces.

The only reason Jim did this article was so he could make that headline.

Seriously, if Wii Music sucks that much as everybody is saying, why don´t everyone simply don´t buy it, instead of complaining perpetually about how bad it is?

If Nintendo wants to make toys for kids, then that's fine. I just wish they'd call a spade a spade, instead of flapping around onstage trying to convince the "hardcore" that it's not what it is.

This is all a ploy to raise a new generation of Nintendo loyalists, similar to how many 20 and 30 year olds of today are nostalgic for the NES/SNES.

Smart plan by Nintendo. However, for consumers ... :3

Nintendo, here's a bit of advice. Make a game, not a kindergarten toy.
