No more rumors: Samba De Amigo for the Wii announced photo

You know all of those rumors about Samba De Amigo coming to the Wii? Remember when it appeared on a bunch of retailers releases lists and, while some of you thought it was a great idea, you blew it off? Hi!

Sega has announced today that Samba De Amigo is coming back to town, this time exclusively for the Wii. Players will use the remote and nunchuck like maracas, in a game that will likely be extremely similar to the original, only with an updated song list, and other special features. Sega promises that more information (including a full song listing) will be revealed over the next few months.

Samba De Amigo for the Wii is being developed by Gearbox Software, and is set to release in the Spring of 2008. Time to put those Dreamcast maracas on eBay.

I believe I read that this was no longer a rumor in Nintendo Power like two months ago.

this is gonna be sweet...i do hope they also keep a feature to let the game be played on the GC and Classic controllers as well...since the DC original had it so you could play with both.

mainly because sometimes i dont feel like shaking maraccas when playing a rhythm game.

still cant give up the original though...

This is great news. I always wanted to play this one on the DC but never got a chance.

Thanks for turning an underground niche sleeper-hit into a next-gen underground niche sleeper-hit!

I am pumped for this. The only time I get to play this game is when I'm at my brothers. I just never could afford the maracas off eBay. But that game seriously buffs up my forearms. Take that WiiFit!
