No Minerva's Den or Protector Trials for BioShock 2 PC photo

2K Games has been quiet about the "Protector Trials" and "Minerva's Den" add-ons for BioShock 2 -- namely, why they haven't released for PC yet. Sadly, the truth of the matter is that they never will. Elizabeth Tobey, the senior manager for 2K's interactive marketing branch, gave an update on the situation.

"We will not be adding vending machine sounds into any version of BioShock 2 and we will not be adding playlists for the multiplayer DLC maps -- we did look in to both options but due to technical and timing issues, these two fixes are not feasible," she writes. "We are planning patches for the 360 and PS3 to fix some functionality issues, but they will not drastically change gameplay (and I'll post the patch notes when I get them -- these two items are still in with QA.)"

"We will also not be offering 'Protector Trials' and 'Minerva's Den' on the PC in the future -- and I want to say that I'm sorry for the disappointment this will cause to PC players out there. As always, if any of these issues change in the future, I will update you guys first, but at this point in time I don't want to make you wait any longer and these are the most definite answers I have and you guys should deem them final decisions."

Unfortunate, especially considering the quality of "Minerva's Den." At least now we aren't left wondering

I wish I could say I was surprised. DLC usually goes pretty cheaply/freely on PC, so I can see why they wouldn't want to release it there.

Glad I made the effort to pick up 360 version as well as PC.

Maybe it's just the games -I've- been playing, but PC feels shafted an awful lot lately with regards to DLC, for shame.

Well, except Valve, which tends to be the opposite situation.

What a bunch of bullshit... support all your game versions equally I say. I'm sure the issue is 2K's break with Games for Windows Live for Steam.

Glad I didn't get Bioshock 2 then, sorry, I just don't buy into games that don't get full support across all platforms.

As a follow-up I want it to be known I thought BioShock 2 was crap really, so this doesn't make me sad much, it's just a principle thing.

Shit. I liked Bioshock 2 (getting it cheap via a Steam 4-pack certainly helped), and I was really looking forward to playing Minerva's Den after hearing such good things about it. Dammit 2K! I want to give you money for a thing you've already made! Why won't you let me!?!

I honestly don't care that much. Bioshock 2 did nothing for me and I'm almost sorry that I even bought it.

I don't really care since I didn't buy, because the first one was boring as fuck. I know this game went to the shit pile when Gamestop had it for $30 for pc, and $40 for console, like a month after it released.

@CaptainApocalypse; GfWL. It'd have been the same price as the 360 version.

This sucks. I was actually half looking forward to Minerva's Den.

In the same thing they said they aren't adding DLC playlists for the multiplayer maps. Since everyone in the game needs to have the DLC in order to play it... this means that having the Metro Rapture Pack is pretty much pointless since it's practically impossible to play any of the new maps outside of having a private match with friends. Garsh dammit.

Too bad Pc gamers will not get Minervas Den. Its one of the best Dlc add-ons for any game ever. Almost better than the actual game.

@ GoggleKnocker

Until gamers show these companies that a lack of support means lower sales it won't change. 2K knows they can screw over gamers by not patching these issues and they will not impact sales of their next release.

Makes me regret buying all those DLC packs before that.
I'll never play this game again on PC.

Fuck you very much, 2k Marin! You officially turned BS 2 to BullShit 2 for me!

I was expecting this. It took them long enough to admit that they fucked up. Seriously what's their damn problem? Is Steam not capable or not good enough to release DLC? I don't get it and I fucking hate how they are treating gaming on the PC.

But on the other hand. What I even hate more is DLC as a whole. So, please, 2K and everyone else. Fuck up all your DLC's to the point that not even the biggest fanboi could care!

Regardless of the quality of BioShock 2 or its downloadable content, I deeply resent having my preferred version of the game announced as the 'eternally incomplete' version several months after purchase.

Although this annoys me I will probably just buy it this month (to add to my October deal thing) on 360 and borrow the game from a friend.

2K Marin's "support" of Bioshock 2 has been atrocious. Thank GOD they're not doing Bioshock Infinite which looks amazing.

So let me get this straight:

The first pack of DLC was already in-game, so where the two pre-order skins. The Metro Pack is virtually unplayable in an open game, the multiplayer performance is atrocious, the last DLC packs didn't even make it on PC...

And all the time they told us nothing more but lies. "It will get all better soon...We will fix XYZ..."

Guys, I feel kind of ripped off.

Wow... K2 sure got lazy and gives a damn for the costumers. Way to go, K2. You are on a good way to become what 3D Realms is nowadays, you know.

Flat out pure fucking horse shit. Yet another reason it's even harder horse shit that they want to also charge the same for PC games as they do console games despite lack of licensing costs this ever so often occurrence of complete reaming of the pc market. And they wonder why the PC market has no problem with piracy.

“Until gamers show these companies that a lack of support means lower sales it won't change. 2K knows they can screw over gamers by not patching these issues and they will not impact sales of their next release”

This has actually convinced me not to buy the bioshock game truth be told. The issue is that they don't make connections between acts like this and a games downfall. Corporate cognitive dissonance is a powerful thing.
