It would seem that, far from being a complete waste of time, PlayStation Home can actually be a good source of leaked news. Advertisements for Batman: Arkham Asylum littered Home today promoting the fact that the hot looking game will allow you to play as The Joker. That's right, Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime will be yours to enjoy.
The ads have since been taken down and it would appear that we were not supposed to know about it yet. However, the world has inadvertently been made aware that "exclusive challenge maps" will let players take control of Batman's notorious arch nemesis. Whether or not these maps are simply exclusive to Joker, or exclusive to the PS3 entirely, is up for debate. The Home integration would seem to suggest that PS3 fans have a little bonus treat in store, however.
If this is indeed a PS3 exclusive, I believe I know which system I'll be picking this one up for. Not that Sony ever writes checks to allow this sort of thing.
[Update: Eidos and Warner Bros.' PR lasers were set to blast, confirming this not long after the story went live. Yes, this will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3, and The Joker will be available as a free download when the game is released. It appears he'll only be playable in the game's Challenge Maps.
More information can be found in the June issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, so go on and find that. Also... new screenshot of the Joker!]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Of course they don't. Sony would never, ever do that. You know how many fanboys are going to come in here and berate you for even sarcastically hinting that Sony writes checks for exclusive stuff?
Yeah, but after seeing how much Assassin's Creed blew losing exclusivity to the title probably helped PS3 save face.
What's really funny is how the PS3 puppets thought this sort of thing was horrible and wrong when it was happening on the 360.
I don't think there's much debate there, considering "Available only on the Playstation 3" is pretty clear in that advertisement unless someone photoshopped the image.
I don't like the exclusivity, but that hasn't gained me the DLC for Fallout 3 on my PS3 to-date, so what do I know? I might get this game, but I want to see some reviews first. There definitely are a good number of people interested in the game at this moment, though. Especially after the Bane video.
Oh the irony.
and don't give me that recession crap, if you couldn't figure out that letting a retard drive our economy was a bad idea I have no sympathy for you( however if you were like me ,underage, and couldn't vote at the time and you kick your parents out of bed @ 6 am ( like me )to go vote for anyone besides bush my heart truly goes out to you, but at the time alot of ya just didn't give a damn ).
man if this many people bitched about the actions of bush back in 2004 as they do right now we might have actually prevented this mess from happening.
If you can point out to me where I said anything definitive about the end product, then you may have a point. You may, however, notice the use of the word "if". It's a hypothetical. It sounds like a cheap exclusive to me, unless there's more to it than just inserting a different, decidedly stealth-free character model into challenge scenarios designed for a stealth-proficient character. My point being, if there's not more to it than what currently meets the eye, then I doubt it will be worth it.
A guy goes away for a couple of days and the forum turns angry partisan for systems and politics instead of usual bizarre comedy partisan for systems. Did Destructoid get hit by the retard virus?
