If you were expecting PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain to arrive some time this year, you can think again. Geoff Keighley Who Hates Bloggers has confirmed that, despite Sony's David Reeves calling it the most important title of 2009, Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain won't see the light of day until 2010.
While this news will be seen as very expected by some, it doesn't take away from the fact that Sony's apparent hot year of exclusive titles has been a little disappointing compared to what we expected at the top of 2009. As last year drew to a close, we were looking at Killzone 2, inFAMOUS, Heavy Rain, MAG and God of War III. Now Heavy Rain and GoW III are confirmed for 2010, and it'll be surprising if MAG doesn't join them.
This is the big problem with the PS3. Its hottest exclusives are excellent games, but they are few and far between. The PS3 user experience seems to consist of a lot of waiting around while listening to promises, and it's really quite frustrating. Still, it's doing a little bit better than the Xbox 360 right now, so that's something.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Same cannot be said of the Errorbox, that and the fact that it comes with all the stuff you need to get online and playing on day one. yada yada yada.
I'd go for a couple of top notch games a year and a console that does what it promises, rather than a billion generic shovelware games and a console that will spend half of it's life back at M$'s repair shop.
Yeah I totally agree, sucks ass, and is the main reason I haven't bought it yet. FFXIII is 2010 as well, and that should have been out this or last year really.
Kinda sad.
Shows how many games I'm waiting for around now, doesn't it?
Also SexualChocolate is the worst troll ever.
Oh well, I guess more polish is nice. Indigo Prophecy could have used a lot more polish, this is probably a good thing.
ORLY? You could say that about the Wii since it's launch and about the 360 recently. Aside from some exclusive DLC for GTA IV and Fallout 3 (until recently), there hasn't been a lot to buy outside of Gears of War or the Halo RTS if you dig that kind of game.
Honestly speaking, over the past year or so, there have been many more titles exclusive to the PS3 than the 360 that have been worth a d@mn. Don't even mention the Wii is this as the owners of that console are still waiting on something worth a d@mn. It really all depends on which games you like I guess. To me, I've gotten plenty of great games to play on my PS3 over the past year - year and a half.
Or will we? Muhahahahaha!
At the beggining of 2007 I had 4 games for the PS3, as of now ( counting infamous and cross edge , I'm getting them later today) I have 32 ( and I really need a 500 gb hardrive).
And I expect mag to make the winter release date because I want to play it so I will it to be so.
I'd assume it's been in development for quite some time since SOTC's 2005 release. I guess it would be a nice change in tactics, since we'd usually have to wait quite some time for Team Ico games to release after their announcements.
Nevertheless, 2010 looks like it's going to be the greatest year in gaming yet!
@ VaeVictus you're allowed to say damn, no one's going to get offended.
Besides, who EVER thought God of War III was coming out this year? Seriously, every GoW game that's not the cell phone game has been March.
but damn i've been bitching about sony for so long now, that it will be hard for me to stop...
i'll guess i'll have to resign myself to love them again.
( ps : exclusive content is a shame, it don't make a gamer community happy but half a gamer community sad ! )
On topic: Exclusives are only important when they're good. Otherwise they're embarrassing. And in the case of the PS3 it doesn't seem to matter if they are amazing: Killzone2. They still don't seem to ratchet up the console into serious relevance.
