Good. If Schilling didn't blow the money, the state would have found some other way to waste it. Believe me, that money was not going to go to feed the homeless or something. It was slotted to be given to a start-up company to increase employment in R.I. They took a gamble and lost, get over it.
goatnuke: I do have to say, MozartFX makes a good point. They made kind of an ill advised choice with giving the start up money to 38, but knowing that information and apparently their lack of research on the game industry and MMO saturation, were they likely to make a good choice with the money anyway? I don't know, but it doesn't seem likely.
But, I also can't blame the Rhode Island tax payers for being angry. Or those employees that relocated to Rhode Island only to get royally screwed. Awful situation all around.

I hope they nail everyone involved to the fucking wall, as ive been saying since the first wind of this. With any luck they can escalate this to treasony
... at least the government investment got jobs out of their money... which is more than I got out of my investment in RIM (Blackberry) stocks. Investments are always risky.
Meanwhile, a young black kid in Rhode Island has been sentenced to 50 years in prison because he was carrying 1kg of pot. Ahh to be rich and white in America.
This is squarely the fault of the State of Rhode Island. A few politicos probably heard from their kids how much money Call Of Duty makes and decided investing in a gaming studio couldn't miss.
This is why American government fails. It does not properly research things before it throws millions/billions of taxpayer dollars at it. If they'd done the due diligence and seen the rash of studio closings over the past three to five years, they'd have recognized the risk and this would be a moot point.

Schilling I can understand. That guy lost tens of millions of dollars in this. Literally all the money he saved from playing baseball for all those years. If anything, he got fucked in this too. 38 Studios and the state of Rhode Island, however, are a completely different story. They're both implicated in this disgusting disaster.
Still say this was a ploy by RI to 3et out of any fault because they pressured 38 to take this rediculous deal that had no way of going well that ultimate went as sour as it was supposed to.
