No DualShock for Europe: Metal Gear Solid console bundle shafts Europeans photo

The so-called "ultimate gaming combo" that is Sony's Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle just got a little less ultimate for those of us stuck in the redheaded stepchild of the gaming market. For some retarded reason, only the US and Japan will be getting the DualShock 3 controller in their bundles, while Europe will be stuck with the SixAxis controller.

Sony revealed this after yesterday's "gamers day" where it confirmed Europe would be getting the bundle, but without the full contents. I bet we're expected to pay more though. ”Available from June 12 and priced at 439.99 Euros this offer is one of the most exciting bundles to date," says Sony. Exciting, but still rather lame.

I can't wait to get out of Europe.

Ok, I'm going to be serious now. No matter how badly we're being treated in the gaming industry, there's no way I'm moving out of Europe just because of videogames.
We have too many benefits here, such as free health care.
Just remove those spine-less "we-know-whats-best-for-you" politicians, and we're in bloody mekka compared to the rest of the world.

Sooner or later the PAL and NTSC format will die, and games will be developed for HDTV's exclusively.

Probably a 40gb one with no backwards compatibility as well. Fuck you Sony, I'm not buying a PS3 until it has a Dual Shock 3 and BC. Despite the pull of MGS4 (I'll just borrow a mate's one and complete it).

Well importing is an idea, but there's probably added delivery expense on something this big so you might as well buy this bundle then buy a DualShock 3 since they're region free anyway.

Hang on a second..... 439.99 Euros = £347.23

Doesn't the GT5 Prologue bundle cost £299.99? So how is this bundle even a saving since MGS4 will cost about £45 on its own?

This generation is definitely better that the last though!
At least the PAL metal gear 4 won't be a crappy squished 50hz version like Metal Gear 3! What was that about? Talk about stepping back into the dark ages! No 60hz option???

Honestly if you're planning on moving to the States or something for an improvement over Europe. You won't really get one.

I moved over here a couple of years ago and I do love it (meeting my wife definitely helps) but although things initially seem cheaper, in reality you just pay for everything in a different place (rather than just through your tax I mean).

Healthcare, dentistry, Rubbish collection, Storm water (wha? weird little bills in the post for like $3, it's so weird) , TV (have to have cable cos terrestrial doesn't exist if your in a small town like me + it's the only way to get internet for a reasonable price) + obviously the prices you see never have tax added in...

So quality of life wise, you'll honestly be about the same.
If it's a political thing then that's different.

And yeah, going to a game shop here you do have a much better selection than in the UK (although not with old-school Shmups on ps2! I wish we got the budget "Xplosive" releases of Psyvariar/Gunbird/Strikers 1945 etc here!) so that has been nice.

So we can't have rumble in this bundle. FFS Jim, how about not having PSN in Hungary at all?? (Because we don't have that too here.) Sony, or Sony Hungary just keeps forcing me to buy import stuff or just quit this generation.

I think I'll stick to my lovely PS2 instead.

Oh wait, we pay a lot more for our games here. Maybe I should skip gaming in general or just go full retro...

There are 399 euro 40GB GT5P + GTA IV bundles as well, this looks like one lameass deal. 300 euro for a White Knights Stories 120GB PS3 with Dual Shock sounds about right to me :P

i'm with Projectexodus on this one. i moved here earlier this year for college, and though america is nicer in a lot of different ways (videogaming definitely being one of them) europe as a whole is definitely an improvement. now i don't know if it's the same in the UK... i lived there when i was 3 years old so i really have no idea.

but yeah, if you do come to america, i would really suggest that you make sure you're in a big fun city such as LA or san fransisco or boston (that's where i am), or i guess Miami seeing as how that's dtoid's center.

Regardless, i think you should definitley come to america and try it out. it'll definitely be a fun experience. but you do control your own life and know everything about it much better than i do, and probably know in general what's best for you, so yeah, that's just sort of an outsider's musings on america... :P

honestly we're bitching about everything ;)

In my case it's about my ps3 gathering dust because the games are fucking expensive here (believe or not MGS4 will be $120+ where I live), plus we don't have PSN (in Hungary), and now this. Yes, I do have a PS3 and I'm still whining about how Sony treats us here in EU.

Is Canada tied in with the US now?

Last I heard you can get the DS3 and MGS4 in a package together though they are very limited.

Until a game requires rumble, I am not going out to re purchase my stinking controllers, do not want.

Considering Sony's (arguably) best games come out Europe, the ones that get so hyped up it's untrue, and Sony's Playstation Day was held in Europe, I'm wondering why SONY FUCKING HATES EUROPE. Esepcially since they're bragging that the PS3 is now outselling the 360 over here, or so I'm led to believe today.

Fs. I hope the postal system gets better in Europe so I can have mine imported.

for a couple of months i was pretty sure i would buy a mgs4 bundle. but this is just crap! SHAME ON YOU SONY YOU GREEDY BASTARDS! ill stick with my 360. have you guys seen the "most anticipated ps3 games of 08"? despite besides mgs and little big planet (which i dontlike anyway, but i also didnt play it so i may change my mind) almost all games are multi platform. the only reason for to get is ps3 are mgs and FFXIII. but i wont let sony screw me. keep your shit!
