No downloadable content planned for Halo: ODST photo

Bungie recently reiterated plans to not support Halo: ODST with post-launch downloadable content. Speaking to Eurogamer at PAX 2009, Bungie community head honcho Brian Jarrard confirmed that the studio might not create DLC for the not-so-budget-priced Halo 3 expansion. He pegged Bungie’s next title as the reason for the lack of future ODST content

"The number one question these days is whether we're going to do DLC for ODST and add more Firefight maps,” said Jarrard. “Right now we honestly have no plans to do that because we have another huge game in the works.”

This shouldn’t be a surprise, especially considering that ODST is an expansion containing several other bits and pieces of expansionary content. But notice that Jarrard didn’t count it out. There’s at least a chance that more Firefight stuff -- which is a mode that will be undoubtedly hot with fans -- could come. Believe.

Eh, considering the plethora of maps already available for the game, I don't really expect it will need it. If nothing else, I wouldn't be surprised if they just shoehorned Firefight into the existing maps. I might not be perfect, but it ought to be at least serviceable.

You mean we won't be paying out the ass for map packs just so we can play most of the multiplayer?

I'll remain skeptical.

The amount of maps that Halo 3 will have after you've gotten the 3 new maps included in ODST will bring the total up to 24 if wikipedia is to be trusted. I'd say that's sufficient.

Say what you will about the pricing and the way Bungie (was probably forced) limited ranked matches to people who have purchased the DLC -- support! It's more than CoD4 can say thanks to Activision's one Call of Duty a year plan.

This makes sense, since the primary support should still be on Halo 3 multiplayer until they (possibly) attempt to succeed it with Halo Reach.

Forge + Sandbox + Firefight = Bad experiences

Is this coming out on Dreamcast? On a serious note, in competitive multiplayer for this, will we still be playing as ODSTs (like in fire fight) or is it a straight Master Chief recycle of Halo 3. I hope it's the former... sometimes it pisses me off that I have to unload a full clip in someone just to take down their shields.

DLC not only limited ranked matches they limited the social matches too, basically removing features from a game you bought. Should be made illegal. Cunts.

This game is not worth the $60 they're charging for it. I'll pass

That's fine with me, I never bought Mythic/Legendary because I felt like I was getting ripped off. And yeah, with the 3 new maps, there's already going to be a pretty substantial amount of variety in the multiplayer.

That's fine with me. The people who worked on ODST should be added to the "REACH" Team so that game can be the best it can be.

It would actually be nice to see a game come out and NOT have DLC for once. Especially Halo DLC, of which there is already too much, IMO.

@casesomething The multiplayer is on another disc that comes with ODST. It's the same multiplayer that is in Halo 3 except that it has the 3 new maps.

Considering how Bungie likes to flip flop on whether or not they're done with Halo...
