No download content or multiplayer update for inFamous photo

Speaking with gaming site 9 Lives, Sucker Punch’s Bruce Oberg has said that the company has no current plans to release downloadable content for its PlayStation 3 exclusive, inFamous, which ships this week.

Oberg also mentions that the title, a single-player experience, will not be receiving a multiplayer patch or update.

The length of inFamous’ gameplay has been called into question (seriously, 25 is not short!), but I’m here to tell you that the lack of additional content or multiplayer will not hurt this game. Having been playing it casually for a few weeks, I can say there’s more than enough game there to keep you entertained. It doesn’t hurt that the game is a blast to play. I’ve been far too busy with a move and E3-planning to dig in deep (and I’m won’t be able to do our review), but I’ve made time each day to play because of an uncontrollable urge.

For PlayStation 3 owners on the fence, confused by the Prototype comparisons, do yourself a favor – pick up inFamous this week if you like things that are fun. That’s not a review, that’s a strong suggestion; it’s worth it, even if Sucker Punch won’t be providing multiplayer or additional post-release content.

what is this fun you speak of?
don't you know that we all are in this videogame business so that each one of us can cheer in this battle to the death that console manufacturers are in.
oh and BTW, N-gage FTW!!!!

It's certainly refreshing to see a developer go out and say that a game will not be receiving DLC, at least, not yet. Sometimes I feel so cynical when people start talking about all the awesome DLC they're planning to charge for before the game is even released.

I say Infamous needs a DLC with Zombies. End of Discussion.

Not everything needs multiplayer or DLC, blah, blah, blah.

But really who was expecting multiplayer for this?

UPS says that my copy should be delivered shortly. I'm actually quite excited to play the full game after running through the demo several times.

@ Kraid I don't think electricity is effective against zombies, it would be a massacre.

A multiplayer deathmatch seems boring. Just going around shooting electricity at each other, yawn.

This actually makes me very happy hearing someone say 'no' to DLC and multiplayer patches. I just wish a dev would call out their fellow brethren and say "this shit should be included with the game right away"

Thats good, Hopefully this means that sucker punch put everything they wanted into the game that shipped. And multiplayer in Infamous? I dunno about that one. Anyways Im gonna be renting this game today hopefully. The demo is fantastic.

1. No DLC? So the pre-order Gitawatt Blades won't be available to anyone else? Boo.

2. No DLC means no better skins or costumes. Also, boo.

I spent 4 hours in the demo just leaping around buildings, throwing people off them, and doing the DBZ down-punch move. 25 hours is a rush estimate if you don't like having fun.

Like Sephiroth, and others, I'm floored that they're coming clean this soon. It's nice to know you're getting the whole package, for once.

@Chronic
Although I'm not disappointed multiplayer is missing, can you imagine how cool a GTA4-like sandbox experience would be? I could play a game of high-stakes tag for days if they added a 3-4 player "same city" option.

I believe i like Single-Player games more anyway...
I'm not all that social. So I'm glad they put ALL their energy into building a polished finished product. As far as Single Player is concerned.

Besides the game really fits a certain gloominess. That resinates universally in feeling among those type of gamers...

That being said... I felt ripped off by Sony once so far...
(( Resistance 2 )) *Cough!* The only good part of Resistance 2 was the multiplayer.

@ chronic logic

It' would be a little more intresting than that.

Its nice to hear I'm getting a complete game. I don't mind some DLC but if its out a week after the game is released I don't care what the reasoning is you and your game company look like tools. Seperate budgets, not in the scope of the oringal title, whatever the reason is, and it might be true, it comes off as "we made an incomplete game in order to squeeze 10 more dollars out of you."

Doesn't need it. Been playing since 10 this morning and it is quickly climbing the ranks of my "fave game" list. Ive spent so much time just running around taking out baddies and climbing that I've hardly done any missions yet!

Yeah whoever said Zombies dlc was on the money.

Although I probably wouldn't buy dlc on the ps3. I don't play it enough. I might change my mind if Infamous is as amazing as it could it be.

I'll find out today I suppose.

I just picked this up as the demo was DAMN good!!

How it's 25 hours short? Did it take you 45 hours to beat Cod4?

Oh it did.....Sorry.

Sounds good to me... less annoying updates to get in the way when I'm trying to get in a quick 30 minute session

As opposed to multiplayer where you go around shooting bullets at each other? Sounds the same to me.

On that note, I applaud Sucker Punch for not going the "gauge your fanbase" route. They shipped a complete product that stands on its own, which is the way it should be.

Can't wait to play this game really. Electricity has always been one of my favorite, albeit under represented powers.

Multiplayer makes no sense anyway. Everyone shooting lightning at each other, which would essentially be healing them? Only way it would work would be to just try and throw everyone into water, which is kind of weird...

They'll likely do DLC if it sells well. Hopefully they do a LBP DLC that adds a lightning shooting ability and inFamous costumes, similar to the MGS4 paintball DLC.

Well, I respect the developers for making what they felt is a complete game upon release...but I'm sure I would love some kind of dlc epilogue after I've finished it.

If you want zombies then you'll have to buy Prototype. Or Saint's Row 2.
