No Dead Space 2 in 2010? photo

While Electronic Arts and Visceral Games haven't committed to a release date for Dead Space 2, GameStop is pretty sure it won't be next year.

The retailer is listing the title for an early January release, which means gamers looking to find out what happens to Isaac Clarke after the events on the Ishimura USG may just have to wait. In the latest issue of Game Informer (201), the game's executive producer Steve Papoutsis hints that the developer is in no rush.

"We're committed to delivering this game at the highest quality level possible," he says. "It's going to ship when it's ready."

We've heard that one before, but we're willing to wait. You can't hurry hot Necromorph on human action.

(Note: Yes, Steve Papoutsis is the ex-bassist for the punk band, No Use For A Name. There's your random tidbit for the day.)

As long as the game is done and lives up to the original. I can wait years, for all I care.

Huh, not a bad band. I'll stick with my Dead Kennedys and Minor Threat though. His voice borders on "prettyboy punk".

I'll wait until 2012 if it means a good product.

I'll wait as long as is necessary. There has been a steady stream of good games coming out for two or three years and I don't see it slowing down any time soon.

There better be a Dead Space in 2010 if Visceral doesn't want to wake up with a horse head in their bed.

This is what I've been saying since the beginning of Dec when I posted it on the forums. Jan 2011 is more then likely be rather close to the date. The only way I see the game moving up would be them trying to make it out in time for the holiday 2010 rush of gaming.

This doesn't surprise me. Visceral have had their hands full with Dante...

I'm breaking away from the mob, here. Screw 2012. I need some gametime before the Mayan calender dooms us all. Give me late 2010, or early 2011.

In other words: "The Single Player is perfect, we're just trying to make the Multiplayer good enough to stay relevant for more than 2 weeks."

No use for a name.. god I grew up on their music. Awesome stuff. Too bad no one really heard of them. Maybe that was good considering punk music's aversion to 'selling out' ?

Sometimes, as a producer, it`s better to invest some extra time in a release in order to ensure top quality of the product. The point is true fans of a game know that waiting is all worth it when needed.
