When Hi-Rez announced Tribes: Ascend at PAX East earlier this year, it was scheduled as a downloadable PC and Xbox Live Arcade title for 2011. It turned into a free-to-play title shortly afterwards, and now Hi-Rez has told GameSpot that it is focusing primarily on PC development, meaning the XBLA release is put on hold for the time being.
That doesn't mean it's not going to happen eventually, as Hi-Rez puts it: "An eventual XBLA version -- and even PSN version -- is not out of the question but neither will be this year." Maybe they are waiting for free-to-play games to debut on Xbox Live?
What a sad, sad day for that legion of hardcore Tribes fans who were anxiously awaiting a quick console release for its better controls and graphics at the cost of the PC version's quality.
