NIS America announces Atelier Annie for US photo

Atelier Annie is just the sort of game that I never expect to see released in the US. Not because of the anime stylings, as those can fare pretty well here, but because of the gameplay, which is best described as a resort-building sim meets an alchemy RPG.

The game's been out in Japan since March, but NIS America has just announced it for a US release in late October. Alongside the announcement of Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love getting localized as well, it seems gamers that are interested in something a little off the beatenpath should start to look more towards NIS America to bring them what they want. Some of us sure do appreciate that, even if these games don't sell a billion copies!

Erm? Why didn't you expect this? Some of the prequels got released on the PS2 in the US.

Out of the Atelier series, only Iris was released. So it is surprising to see that NIS is releasing Annie.

BlackFreeFall: Atelier Iris 1,2 and 3 that is. Maybe people will also be surprised, when a western release of the PS3 Atelier Roronoa is announced.

@Para - The Iris games were something of an offshoot to the "main" Atelier games - this one looks to play a bit more like the older titles, which never in a million years would have been released here back when they originally came out, unfortunately. As such I'm quite glad to hear about this, and will definitely pre-order.

This sounds, and looks quite cool. It'll most likely be a pickup for me.

@ParaParaKing - Because these games don't sell big numbers, that's why.

Damnit, I saw the Atelier and thought it was an announcement of Atelier Rorona for US. I had not even heard of this Atelier game before, after looking up info on it it doesn't look like anything I want to play either... I'm disappointed.

It's too bad that the game will be unplayable and unreadable becuase NIS doesn't know how to do localizations.

I want to play the Atelier series so badly but they are sooooo hard to find in Australia. At least DS is region free :D NIS are bringing out too many games later this year.
