Okay guys, this is our second time at the rodeo, this shit should not be happening.
Resident Evil 6 was revealed less than twenty-four hours ago, and online folk are already churning out the same arguments we had when Resident Evil 5 was announced.
I mean, really? We're still complaining about the inability to move and shoot at the same time in a Resident Evil game? Didn't we have these debates already? Didn't we all lose, because we're morons? Has it even been confirmed you can't move and shoot? Trailer seems to indicate you might!
In any case, being unable to move and shoot is the difference between a straight action game and a real horror/action hybrid. We scientifically proved this years ago. No asshole can accurately score a headshot while running. Trained professionals certainly wouldn't attempt something so stupid. It ... wait, why am I doing this? Why am I getting into the argument again? You see how easy it is to get started? Don't start! Bad dog! Stop! Don't make me get the newspaper!
Also, we're already complaining that it's in China, and that the president is white. Please don't let this become another racism thing, were idiots say something dumb and then we say Resident Evil 4 was set in Spain and nobody complained. For the love of all that is sexy. Don't do it. You have the power to end this. Say NO to movement and racism arguments in Resident Evil 6. It never ends well.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Anyway, it's hard to decipher anything about gameplay for sure yet. So, i'm surprised (i'm not, actually), people are arguing about gameplay of the game they haven't actually seen clearly yet.
Personally, I thought RE5 was just fine, as was RE4. How many "pure survival horror" entries do we have elsewhere in the series? If you count both Outbreaks; tons. I didn't have any issue with them moving in an action oriented direction, and it seems like they've moved back with RE: Revelations. I don't know about you, but as a fan of the series since the very first one came out on PS1, I don't mind a little variation.
Also, the racism thing was blown out of proportion basically by N'Gai Croal. Since there isn't an Asian equivalent of N'Gai Croal out there in games journalism, I don't think anyone will care about RE6's "racism" that much.
Buy it. Or don't buy it. Whatevs.
Bullshit. Dead Space forever made that defense invalid.
The RE "tank controls" are just non-intuitive bad controls that don't heighten tension at all, they're an excuse to get away with really terrible enemy AI.
But the quick time events... man RE5 broke me, i just cant do QTE´s anymore. So thats what im intrested in learning, does it have them, are they as heavily used.
Also, Leon looks alpha as fuck.
Thanks for the excellent post as usual, Jim.
I didn't like 5 and this just looks like more of the same cookie cutter "lets appeal to the CoD crowd" action bullshit.
Trained firearm users do NOT run and shoot, it does NOT work.
That said, it is possible to walk and shoot and get slighty better than completely horrible accuracy, I'm pretty sure Revelations on the 3DS does this and it would be cool to have in RE6.
The whole 'stop and pop' shooting style is at least MORE realistic than the whole 'man as jetfighter' style most games have these days. The RE games have 'fight or flight' combat, where it's easy to run out of ammo (even in RE5 at some points), you have to aim for different sections of the body and use the environment to the full... or just run for your life. The gameplay is still unlike nearly anything out there.
Anyone who thinks the RE series is racist is crazy. It's always the corporations or religeons that have been portrayed as evil in RE games, not the zombified people themselves. Africa is full of black people, therefore RE5 had lots of black zombies, it's quite that simple.
I thought that was all pretty obvious. Also, it seems that Leon, while being action focused in his own right, will follow a more Resident Evil 4 type of path. His scenes seemed darker and s bit more atmospheric. Chris seemed like he was doing some Army shit.
And what's the deal with this other character? Is that Ashley in the trailer with him?
I suppose the only thing to do is make a game of killing entirely white people. Oh wait, those exist!
Gosh Darn It.
this looks great can't wait see more of Alex Wesker doing his kung fu on zombies with Ashely and Ada gameplay parts
You can move and shoot at the same time BUT, it would decrease the player's accuracy and hide the cursor.
Problem solved?
and people are complaining about a resident evil control style? then go play Left for Dead you frikkin' morons. Stop trying to ruin it for the rest of us who love a game for what it is.
Resident Evil 2 was good.
Resident Evil 3 was good.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica was good.
Resident Evil 4 was good.
Resident Evil 5 was good.
I feel safe assuming that Resident Evil 6 will be good, too.
RE stories are stupid. Its not a bad thing, but why do people take all the stupid of RE so seriously?
I mean, I've never understood why its important that each game has to have zombies. After fighting the upteenth giant [insert animal here], weird Lovecraftian looking beasts work, too. T-Virus, G-Virus, Plagas and Uroburos - all fair game. We shot every zombie of every race before we left and eventually nuked Raccoon City before shooting French zombies, Spanish/Amish plagas thralls and later African ones.
Its all stupid shit and I'm OK with that - I just don't take it seriously. If I wanted a candidate to show video games were art or can have great substance to them, I wouldn't pick the Resident Evil ones and that's OK.
I'm just glad that N'Gai Croal made the transition into consulting; it suits him better.
As for the witch hunting, Jim basically stated "I hope no one calls racism on this one". My response was "that was basically only N'Gai Croal". If anything, he was the witch-hunter, saying black people "probably" didn't work on the game without fact-checking and making a big deal about it.
In short, I agree with Jim's response here, long long ago. Funnily enough Jim called it - RE:6 to be set in China.
Most complaints I read are its not scary. Which I promptly tell people to shut up. Since people are STILL going revelations isnt scary and that's been confirmed to be a horror game especially from reviews.
Not to mention the press release even says re6 will be a horror game.
