Admiration, you have mine.
Had trouble with the Vita because my account is american, but I bought an European copy of LittleBigPlanet, so the network pass didn't work.
Did some research, apparently even if I had an american network pass I wouldn't be able to play. Catridge, account and pass have to all be the same nationality for you be able to play the game online. Decided to simply sell my copy and wait to go back and buy an american one.
Fuck region lock.
By the way tried to reach you on twitter but you probably blocked my account cause it got haced and started spamming...would you consider doing a Jimquisition about PSN pricing? I mean, look at those psp game prices! even psone games are kinda steep, doesn't Sony know about steam? or how muhc games devalue over time? The sell year old games (psp ones mind you) at $40!!
Were they priced sheaper I'd buy lots, the way they are right now though, they're not getting a penny from me...
NoE and NoA wanting their share of cake (and at the same time the joy of shitting on their customers).
Still, the whole thing is kind of dumb, especially when it even effects some digital releases. The whole system is based on a much older business model and the world has gotten much smaller since then.

It's good to see readers so aching to make it into Comments of the Week, even if it will ultimately end up in the WTF section.
Jim sometimes stresses his concerns over not obtaining a game on time because it interferes with his job of delivering a timely review for his readers.
I was actually really welcoming of alternate opinions on the Mass Effect 3 ending. A lot of us on staff were, actually.
I also loved Lollipop Chainsaw and Modern Warfare 3, reviewing them elsewhere and giving them high marks. I obtained nothing in return other than the satisfaction I got for playing them.
<3
Combine this with the announcement of a new Monolith Soft game, and it just spells trouble.
I WANT SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: DEVIL SURVIVOR ON 3DS, BUT I CANT. THANKS NINTENDO.
1) Nintendo has done it forever
2) Its what the devs are basicaly outright demanding now.
Yeah it stinks for gamers, but infortunately we are hardly ever a concern
Sony locks the vita memory card to one account:

Humans.
why the hell is only the DS/DSi the only product that they have that is region free???
Nintendo taking one step forward and two steps backwards.
the hell is wrong with you??
Actually its a pretty good justification, when the big 3 are catering to devs now more than ever in an increasingly competitive market
Its bullshit to the gamer, but to the dev its a really good feature that they want.
Its us or them, and increasingly companies are choosing them
I can understand them catering to the devs who far outnumber those who import
thats all
I am just thinking about who they did do it for, they did it for the devs who think its awesome
Unfortunately, the companies do not like people like me sniping games from across the pond.
My girlfriend bought a 360 on europe, and I can't buy games for her online because all the websites I know, only sell american games, and they are region locked on the console, and that's bullshit.
I don't care if it's good for the developers if the console is region locked, the devs aren't the ones who will buy the games for the consoles, it's the GAMERS, so they should make the console better for the GAMER, and not the other way around.
Fuck region locking, seriously.
I am justifying why they did it for the companies.
They didnt do it for the gamers.
Understand what I am saying.
Companies dont want you importing usually from ebay, or some place like that
The main reasons nobody likes region locking are 1. People have to wait or even don't get certain games otherwise and 2. Australians and Europeans get marked up prices and it is cheaper to buy a US version (even with postage).
Not a nintendo vs world issue
was all I was trying to get at.
I wasnt implying region locking is "good" for me because it really isnt
Just look at Captain Rainbow, and amazing Wii game that could only be played importing or ilegally downloading it and companies whine about piracy.
I love this industry, sometimes I just don't get it.
I am not saying, jim is even saying the opposite of what I said. Ive just been reading alot of those kind of sentiments on the internet this morning.
I did understand region locking back in the day. If someone picked up an NTSC game in a PAL territory, it would be fucked. Now there's no real technical reason.
What is also obvious - Me hacking my system at the first available opportunity.
