There you go. No need to read any more comments about Nintendo from you, now. Considering Nintendo's own games are better on a traditional controller than the Wiimote (Twilight Princess, and even SS could be done with contextual attacks), I couldn't disagree more. Resurrecting light gun games is the only positive thing that I feel came from the Wii.
Alright, Jim. I'm pretty down on the lack of dual WiiPad support as well, but can you at least try and be a partial and objective here? I'm not one of those idiots who runs around screaming about how "teh video gamez r serious business guise" but come one. At least try and be semi-professional.
Do I think the 1 WiiPad + 1-4 WiiMotes thing has potential? Yea. Would I rather just have dual WiiPad support? Definitely. If gaming systems have been able to handle the processing load for split screen gaming for decades now, I'm pretty damn sure you can stream a second 480p video signal over 802.11 or something. Can't be that fucking difficult.
The amount of new options given by Nintendo's hardware gimmicks is vastly overshadowed by the already-solved concepts that they needlessly feel the need to rehash. Minimaps, inventories, stat pages, etc don't require a second hardware screen to use; 3D camera controls don't require a stylus; controlling flying objects doesn't require a Motion+ attachment to a waggle stick, (the list goes on) yet Nintendo throws these things around in their consoles and hopes that there might be a chance for some new, legitimate justification for it.
Reggie confirmed at E3 that it will support dual WiiPads. Only that launch titles won't have support because they were in development before support was confirmed (i.e. developed on early prototype Dev kits). Also, Wiimotes will probably not be the default input for auxiliary players; The Gamepad Pro (i.e the Xbox controller looking thing) probably will be.
Your inability to recognize the problem they are trying to solve does not constitute the nonexistence of said problem.
Then again, every time Nintendo introduces any sort of control method that isn't part of the status-quo someone comes in and says how unnecessary it is, before it actually succeeds and everyone else starts copying it, so I guess you're just playing withing the script.
And Stealth, no one on this or any other site would expect you to say what Conrado says, let alone say it better. You've yet to say anything even near as eloquently.

The ds, really showed the potential of dual screen's. And from what weve seen from playtestings, there isnt too much to complain about controller regarded.
I dont pretend to know what they are thinking but if they cant implement it at launch, it must be challenging
As a bonus, your middle school grammar is just too laughable to pass up.
Dual screen gaming actually has potential. And that potential was only just scratched with the ds which had an amazing library of titles.
Since when did I point to screen extensions? That's one of the more basic applications. And I know you think I did for mario and luigi, but if you look at the battles with the bigger enemies and the attack angles achieved on the second screen or popping out of different sides of both screens. It was pretty damn innovative.
One can only hope the wii u is just as good
There's this little known game called BASEBALL (also cricket) which is played asymmetrically. You might want to wiki it.
Sorry, but Twilight Princess's controls on the GameCube are nowhere near as good as they are on the Wii. The ONLY superior aspect on a traditional controller is the swordplay. EVERY other control aspect -- aiming, fishing, menu navigation, EVERYTHING -- is so much faster and more accurate on the Wii that it's not even a fair comparison.
Unless, of course, you actually enjoy feeling like a caveman with the GameCube controller and aiming around with the joystick. In that case, your opinion is your own and I won't try to change it. But after playing completely through both versions of the game, it's gotten to the point that I can barely get through the first dungeon of the GameCube version without wanting to break the controller in half.
I was referring to launch. For some reason or another, a very small technological hurdle couldn't be overcome by Nintendo, so the feature won't be available at launch. That pretty much guarantees there wont be standalone WiiPads available at retails for launch either. And since all we have is an announcement and no working prototype or actual unveiling, it could literally be a year before the feature is even an option for developers to use, let alone something that gets proper support.
@Stealth
Did it though? Because the best games on the DS make very little use of it. More often than not the screen is used as a crutch for the lack of dual analog or a second set of shoulder buttons. And in the games that do use it, it's rarely the core gameplay mechanic because that doesn't work in well in most core games. Or it's just a map/menu. You seem to be looking at the DS's software library through rose tinted glasses.
"I dont pretend to know what they are thinking but if they cant implement it at launch, it must be challenging"
Nintendo hasn't been able to implement a remotely competent online infrastructure in the 10 years that Xbox Live has been around. The whole idea that "well Nintendo can't do it, so it must be challenging" thing kind of went out the window a long time ago in my book. DLNA and AirPlay aren't brand new technologies. Neither is display mirroring.
It may be too challenging for their team of engineers if they're understaffed and underbudgeted, but it's definitely not too challenging from an overall technological standpoint by any stretch of the imagination.
Its not a crutch since its on par with dual analog. It provides the same function
The second screen did use it for maps and menus which to me were freakin fantastic
BUT it was also used for gameplay, and thats when it really shined.
Your talking online, I am talking the second controller issue.
2 seperate things
Nintendo is more than competent online as proved by the 3ds. and like other companies have said, if there new online wasnt as good as the others, they wouldnt of put the games on.
Nintendo is clearly holding much back.
The wii u holds the same potential the ds/3ds had. We will see if companies exploit it as fully
