Nintendo Wii Light Sword sighted in Canada photo

It seems that the Wii lightsaber has hit store shelves, at least in Canada (previously, only the UK had seen these bad boys for sale.) Thanks to a covert photographer, Go Nintendo posted a few pics of the sabers this morning sighted at the Canadian store Zeller's. If you don't want to wait to buy one, it seems you can order one online directly from the store's website. I have to admit to being pretty interested in this peripheral, although I'll likely wait to pick one up until it's readily available in the states.

I know it's probably wishful thinking, but if the Wiimote made the lightsaber sound when you waved it, I might just about die of delight.

[Thanks Adam!]

I don't like Star Wars but even for people that do, wouldn't that sound get annoying as hell? I'm hoping that a game would just program it so that the sound comes out of the Wiimote so that you can at least turn it off if you want.

hm a so so star wars fan and even i'd get annoyed by that "swoosh" sound. if it were to come with one, i'd rather have a button to turn it on or off.

or rather, just don't include it. and yes where's the green ones? I may want a green OR a purple one instead of the same ole red and blue.

I can imagine this being pretty awesome with No More Heroes though.

I'm guessing it's not a first party accessory, but Ninetndo should totally jump on that...

Which will sell better; Wii lightsaber, or Zack & Wiki?

All I have to say is, Where is the damn star wars game to go with it. as far as I can remember the only star wars game on the Wii is Star Wars Lego's.... GAY! that game blows. You know what they should do is make another sequel to Obi Wan. Anyone remember that game it was a launch release title for the Xbox and that game had the best light saber game play ever.

If it vibrated it would be that much more useful.

@JohnnyWadd:

I'm assuming that was supposed to be a joke but the Wiimote already vibrates on its own...

Do want! And what is this blasphemy about turning off the sabre sound? It's the sound that a cute purring kitten makes.. when you cut it in half *WRRRROOM*!

Oh man, I got a toy lightsaber a few years back. You could change the hilt and color and anything, and it even made the lightsaber sounds! Best toy lightsaber ever.

Also, No More Heroes, etc.

A friend of mine got one.

Few things to note: it blocks the pointer so very few games can be played with it effectively.

It doesn't make a whoosh sound.

It does, however, light up lightsaberish(the light progresses from down to up when turned on, and up to down when turned off).

Shame that it's a Zellers exclusive (at least according to their flyer), although if it doesn't make the sounds I don't feel bad about not picking one up.
