As you all know by now, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed yet again by about a month in Japan and the USA. As far as the European release goes, we've never been given a street date but it seemed quite likely we wouldn't be seeing hide nor hair of the bloody thing until Summer. Now that there are delays in the countries that Nintendo cares about, we in Europe wonder if we will be affected at all.
Well, Nintendo UK won't tell us. In fact, when asked about how the recent delays will affect a European release, Nintendo UK would only say that "no European date has ever been announced for Smash Bros." Well gee, thanks for that, makes us feel special.
Nintendo's persisting treatment of Europe as if it were a second class citizen has almost become a self-parody, to the point where it's saying statements that make it sound like the company won't even bother releasing the game at all over here. Saying that no release date has ever been announced is as good as saying that the game simply isn't planned to ever come to Europe, and while that's clearly not the case (as far as we know), that's certainly what the tone implies.
Maybe we'll get it in time for Christmas though, eh? Christmas 2030.
[Thanks Aerox]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
This is just such utter garbage, especially if the Japanese date is still Jan 31, why do I have to wait until March to get the damn game.

I expect a full report as to what happened with the production of Brawl on my desk by the end of the year.
Not for GB, but Euro games need to be translated into Italian, French, German, and Spanish also.
That's why Europe got Animal Crossing 2 years after the US release. Even so, I can't imagine Smash Bros. has all that much text in it. That kind of localization is something that could be done before the game is even finished.
It really sucks for Australia because they aren't even physically close to Europe and predominantly speak Australia English but they have to wait as well. I think Australia should be part of the North American region, they're closer to us than they are to England :p
Nintendo is better off not announcing a release date unless they are damn sure it will be able to release it on time.
Nintendo to have three sessions at GDC
“Wii Fit: Creating a Brand New Interface for the Home Console”
- speaker: project lead Takao Sawano
“Planning the Wii Menu: From Pre-Launch to WiiWare”
- speaker: Takashi Aoyama, team leader, Nintendo’s Network Group
“Building Characters: The Super Smash Bros. Brawl Postmortem”
- Developer Masahiro Sakurai
... I hope Nintendo won't surprise us with a Wiiware delay announcement.
Yea they did and I believe the reaction of Jim and comment posters where "I'll believe it when I see it", well you're seeing it now.
6 months after its been out in the states is my guess for a release date, Its amazing just how badly Nintendo treates the PAL market, its even more amazing how people still defend them over there in the UK.
Maintain your integrity and be patient, yeah?
