Yes, 3d is a nice gimmick but it's nothing more than a gimmick, at the end of the day it's all about the GAMES!
P.S. I'm not just not buying the 3ds because of the stupid price point, though the announced games sound awesome it still hasn't sold my jaded self on it for various reasons.
Seriously though, you know what is actually worth the wait? The Last Story. It just scored a 38/40 in Famitsu. :-) Bring it stateside!!!
Hey Nintendo, if you're actually thinking outside your dumbass closed box and accepting a games console can do more than just play games, how about re-thinking your shitty online approach to gaming for once?
Cheers.
@holmeszk Way to totally miss the point. The EU price has been jacked up for no reason, higher than the American or Japanese price. It's not about it being expensive, it's about it being more expensive than other regions for no apparent reason.
The Australian dollar is EQUAL to the US dollar (give or take a tenths of a cent). The Pound, although taking a hit in recent years, is still worth just about double the US dollar.
Folks in the US, imagine if the 3DS cost about 500 dollars. Given that UK wages are stagnant, benefits have been cut, food prices have risen and youth unemployment is now higher than at ANY TIME in modern history, I wouldn't be surprised if the 3DS BOMBS in the UK, and it deserves to. I know I'm not going to buy it. Too expensive.
They're more than welcome to charge whatever they want for their product. They made it after all. They have a legal, moral and industrial right to charge XYZ for the 3DS. And we have the legal, moral and consumer right, to refuse to buy it.
You ever had anything caught at customs? I haven't; so even if it hits only £10-20 saved, may as well take the chance and maybe save more.
I'm not buying one anyway, but UK price hiking grinds my fucking gears...
UK: WAY MORE THAN Wii Launch.
I'm sure Nintendo have lost AT LEAST A THOUSAND customers. Hopefully retailers will realise what they have done and start a mad price war.
Sure... It's fine paying $70k for an accord, when a ferrari costs well over $100k!
The Wii launched at $250. The 3DS launched at $250. The PS3 launched at $599. The PSP2......oh lawd.
Nowadays with everyone been on the internet (including 30YO parents who are gamers themselves) everyone can see we are getting a raw deal and WE DONT LIKE IT.
I thought Ninendo due to its pricing of current gen hardware compared to it competitors actually knew that gimicks alone dont sell in larger numbers, its about cheap pricing.
Its not as if history has told us any different (this is UK only):
Spectrum +2 sold more then the Commodore C64
Megadrive sold more then the SNES
Gameboy sold more then Game Gear
(dunno how the PS1 and PS2 eras fall into things as I dont know their prices)
Wii sold more then Xbox 360 which sold more then the PS3
DS sold more then the PSP
For every machine ive listed the better sellers have been the cheapest (by a decent amount) while been the least powerfull
Then again we dont know the pricing of its competitors. so who knows that may be the 3DS may be the chaepest system haha
Finally, the days of being taunted on a video game blog with pictures of my favorite comic book character on articles that have NOTHING to do with him are over!
So where does that money go, exactly? What am I getting for my extra £40? Nothing? This is another 'because I can' tax, courtesy Nintendo's 'fuck Europe' department. Well, fine, I guess I'll just buy a PSP2 instead. I'll need something to keep my stray paper in place in the coming years.
